Due to company bankruptcy Mr SS has been out of work for 2 months and we are going to have to let our lovely Filipina helper go.
She has been with us for 2.5 years, having started working for us in 2009, in Singapore. We brought her with us to HK in early 2011. She is 38, has no children but is the eldest of 6.
She is loyal, hard-working, honest and reliable. She has taken great care of our son (now 6).
She is a wonderful cook, can cook both Western and Asian dishes and can follow a recipe. She has catered for large parties of adults and children without fuss. She is always willing to try something new.

NewDad: This was back in early June, she had been back here from a trip home just a couple of weeks and had a few home things going on. It was quickly resolved and in the 7 months since that post (and the post that you seem to have missed that I made very shortly after saying things were back to normal) I have not had a problem.
I will add that we are letting her go as my husband's company went bankrupt and he has been out of work for two months. Due to no income, sky high rent contract we are tied into and school fees we cannot afford to keep her on.
This is not something I would lie about and there's no way I'd give a glowing reference to someone who didn't deserve it. How would that benefit anyone?

On a side note, You may consider asking your landlord for an early termination without penalty. We have allowed our tenant to do that when he lost his job last month. Worth a try!

I'm interested, would you please advise if she is capable of taking care a baby of one. Mine is a baby one and we are looking for a caring and gentle maid, with good hygiene.
 
I have been let down by the person who said they would employ her (with a very flimsy excuse). I don't understand how people can be so unreliable and yet be calm about it. She is back on the market - her contract expires on 31st, she then has 14 days before she has to leave. SERIOUS inquiries only please.
 
Just to update, my helper found someone to employ her, immigration had granted her an extra 10 days (on top of the usual 14) and she has informed me that immigration have approved her visa.
