Anybody tried those expensive Japanese forumla like Meji, Beanstalk etc? They are much more expensive than Enfamil, S-26...so I wish to know what's so special about them. What do they have and the others don't (the container is all in Japanese which I can't read) and which brand would you recommend?

Thanks.

Hi Mrs Buffy,

Japanese formula are made to be similar to be mother's milk. I haven't tried others so I can't tell which is better but I think Japanese formula's quality is really good.
I like Morinaga & Meiji. My 9 month had "Hagukumi(by Morinaga)" and "Hohoemi(by Meiji) until last month. Now switched to follow-up milk like "Chirumiru(by Morinaga)" and "Step(by Meiji)".

Thanks Peach...I may give it a try when my girl turns 6 mth.
Do you know any place that sells them cheaper than SOGO & UNY, they are so expensive.

Mrs Buffy,

I haven't purchased them in HK since I brought some from Japan when we moved here 3 months ago.
But I think that a small Japanese food shop near Sheung Wan sells them less expensive than Sogo & Uny. I don't remember the shop's name and exact price but will check when I visit the place next time.

BTW, I have 12 sticks of portable Japanese formula (10 x Hagukumi & 2 x Hohoemi). They are for babies under 8 months and my 9 month doesn't need anymore. Shall I send them to you (of course for free). If you are interested in, please send me a PM.

hi there

i have sent you a pm, is there any chance i could try a couple tins of that japanese formula? i'm thinking of supplementing formula while i am away with my 7mnth old, and we're both allergic to things so prefer that she tries formula of higher quality?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jasminea,

After the switch, my baby's poo poo is now dark green & pate like, much thicker than that when she was BF.

I didn't try any Japanes formula before as they are really really expensive. Luckily I breatfeed my baby and some A+ formula.

In HK, you can buy Japanese formula in

1. CitySuper
2. The Great
3. on-line at www.re-on.com.hk
4. East Trading West, website www.etwhk.com, tel: 2191-9082 (But the website without english version)
5. Bonjour (the comestic chain store)

Hi,

I've been feeding my boy Wakodo since he was 10 mths old and he is now 3+. Personally, I like the japanese milk powder as it does not taste as sweet as the other brands and the flavour is much more similiar to fresh milk.

And I think babies drinking japanese brand milk are smarter:wink:.
