Enfamil Recall

Re CNN news on 2 infant death related to 2 batches of Enfamil newborn formula, and the subsequent Walmart recall, did anyone know (or checked with mead Johnson) if the ones we have here are ok?
 
It looks like a complete over-reaction. From various news sources, I've seen the following quotes:

"Gena Terlizzi, spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, noted it is unclear at this point whether or not the boy's death was caused by Enfamil ingestion or another source"

"A Walmart spokesperson said the company pulled Enfamil "out of an abundance of caution" and may put the products back on their shelves depending on the outcome of health officials' findings."

"Supervalu said it pulled "the lot number that has been identified off our shelves" out of "an abundance of caution," according to the Wall Street Journal. Both Walmart and Supervalu are holding the baby formula until further notice from health authorities. "
 
I don't know if it is an over reaction, or just spinsters calling it an over reaction to keep the public from ditching Enfamil altogether, but I ditched my tin of Enfamil and I'm not going back until the report says the death is 100% conclusively NOT related to Enfamil. usually more than one person has to die before a link can be established, in the absence of any other proof, and i would rather that not be my child.

Dont buy anything from Asia because there is no recall page for Asia and those pesky Asian countries are all corrupt and hide everything anyway.
Its best not take a chance so read those links daily as there are multiple recalls happening somewhere around the world every single day; you can never be too careful with Hong Kong importing everything. If you see just a single report on the other side of the world, throw out the whole lot of them, you never know and who would want to take the chance because in absence of any proof, we would not want this happening to our families.

Better yet, lets go full hog and not buy any foods at all and just grow our own; cant trust anyone these days with anything.

You missed Consumer Reports.

yes recalls happen everywhere and about every product. I never said they didn't. In fact, infant formula recalls are quite common and at least one formula company has a recall just about every year. Enfamil gets recalled quite often, however. But there is a difference between recalling the products you listed and the recall of the only food an infant consumes, especially when that food is suspected of killing a baby, and especially when that company recalls things on a fairly regular basis. I bought that tin because it was 3 am and it was the only thing available at the time I needed it.

Go ahead and be sarcastic and rude, and please by all means feed your baby whatever brand of rat poison you like and play with defective toys. I choose to keep my infant away from recalled products. The formula I am now using has never been recalled, in the past 10 years ( as far back as I can find) and is only used in emergencies when I don't have enough breastmilk to feed my baby. Breast milk never gets recalled, and if I could produce enough to feed 100% I certainly would.

Your suggestion to grow your own food is quite good. We do. We grow our own rice and a few vegetables, and carefully wash the rest. Thankfully we like in the NT where we can do that.

I'm supposing you've done your research and you're right. Makes me wonder why you picked it in the first place since you have doubts about the product based on your research.

The formula I am now using has never been recalled, in the past 10 years ( as far back as I can find) and is only used in emergencies when I don't have enough breastmilk...

Why didnt you pick this un-named product first before you picked Enfamil? Hmm...

Taking your 3 statements together shows and tells something about you - I'll leave as an exercise to other readers.

Rat poisons are known to be poisonous and defective toys can be fatal - I do heed proven issues with care.
Unlike your goodself, I dont panic based on singular reports with no proof.
