We had the same problem when we switch to enfamil after 4mths. We now give 1/2 and 1/2 of holle organic formula and enfamil and the problem has been solved. We also make sure he gets 30ml of water every cycle.
formula is made to certain specifications, including how much water to add to it, and giving water in addition in such a young baby is really considered to be unsafe. I think maybe you should contact your pediatrician about another formula if you are concerned.
Enfamil is very high in iron - the reason they use it in hospitals here - but therefore can be hard to digest. I changed my 2 when they were about 3 weeks old. We tried a few different ones which we bought from Park n Shop and settled on the one that seemed to suit the girls best. You can look at the ingredients to see the difference in the mineral and vitamin content. The difference in them was almost immediate and they were much happier.
Which formula did you switch your baby too. I prefer to find a brand which is available in Canada, as I would be going back to Canada once my baby complete his vaccine here.
In the end I picked one that I could get in the UK because we went for a trip there when they were 3 months old - Cow & Gate. Not sure if it's available in Canada.
We also started out with Enfamil but had problems with it. We went back to Australia for a visit when Finn was about 1 month old and the paediatrician suggested Nestle NAN HA. We've been using it since and Finn has really thrived.
i agree, you should talk to your doctor. in our case, if we don't feed the water, he literally won't poop for days. this was in complete contrast of my elder son who didn't have water until he was 6mths old. Elder son was on EBM for the first 6mths.
