hello, the upcoming easter holidays are a good chance for me and my family to take a short break outside HK....any suggestions/ i have 2 kids under 4 yrs and wish to relax a bit by going to an 'easy; close-by destination........pls. do suggest something soon....thanks

Cebu... and stay at the Shangri-la Mactan. The shortest direct flight we could find that would take us to a beach resort. The Shangri-la is very family-friendly and the staff quite helpful. We went there when my son was 3 and my girl was 7 months. We all had a fun time and it was pretty relaxing.

The only thing to note is that if you plan on going shopping, I don't think the malls or many of the shops will be open during Holy Thu and Good Fri. By Sat and Sun, the shops should be back in full swing.

thanks for yr replies....i have just been to boracay in philippines hence am not so keen on cebu.......singapore i wanted to do but someone told me its exactly like HK even the sea world is similar to ocean park....any idea? this place sanya in china....how far would it be from HK? thanks again.....also what about bali, japan?

But singapore is a lot more child friendly then HK and their zoo is great not like our tiny little place which they call the zoo in HK.

Bali is great if u like the beach and u stay in a nice resort.

No idea bout of Japan but one of our friends went with a year old and they had fun.

Sanya is an hours flight i think form here. Again it is a beach place.

It all depends what u like. U can go to Taiwan for the weekend also

We wanted to try Sanya, but two families that we know have gone there for a holiday and came back recommending against it.

Singapore is very child-friendly. We love their zoo, the night safari, etc. Their zoo has a small wading pool area that's really fun for the kids.

We love Bali, but have never taken the kids there yet. When we were there, we did see many families on holidays with young kids. (Highly recommend the Ritz Carlton.)

We went to Sanya a couple of years ago and didn't like it either. The service and hospitality is much better in Phuket.

Hello ladies,
We're also considering Singapore with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Can someone please suggest how many days can we stay there without getting bored? Apart from the zoo, what else can we do over there? And also, which hotel would you recommend without costing a fortune(we'll also be bringing our helper along so need to book two rooms). Thanks heaps.

we went last year with our 14 month old son we went there for 5 days but i think days are ok. We went to zoo , sentosa, duck boat cruise ,shopping and we also had some friends there so met them

when we went there the singapore eye was going to open that weekend.

Hotel i forgot the name but we stayed at the hotel opposite takshimaya mall off orchard road so it was easy for us to get stuff

we had a great time in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Shangri-la Tanjung Aru was very very kid friendly and the beach is small so it's very easy to keep an eye on your kids. They've got a playroom and cars and bikes, kiddie pools and grassy areas near the breakfast buffet which was great for our son and his friend to chase the birds while the adults ate.

Singapore is also really great with kids. You can go to sentosa island and visit the aquarium. we usually stay 4nights 5 days but 3 nights 4 days should be ok too since the airport is close to the city.

you can read about our trip to singapore here:

We also had a great time with 2 kids in Bali, but the flight is just too long so we won't be going there again for a while.

have a great trip!

I would first see what's available. I know flights around Easter are pretty busy.

We've done Cebu (Shangri-La), Guillin (Sheraton), Taipei (Sherwood), going to Bangkok end of May (couldn't get 5 affordable flights around Easter). Other ideas, KL, Singapore, Kota, Sanya ... like most have mentioned. Otherwise, Shanghai, Beijing, Xian in China? Japan ... probably quite pricey, or South Korea (loved it).

this is really helpful ladies thanks so much......i have narrowed down to singapore mostly ....now pls. recommend a good hotel which is close to the shopping places, kid-friendly, etc has anyone done the Cathay Holidays package?

oops....i just checked singapore is a 3.40 hrs flight! i was looking for a max 2 hrs something.....happened to see taipei....neha, have u been there? is there anything for children to see / do?
