Due September 2009

Hi Sarah

Good luck for your scan today.
We are still also in shock over the private costs but at this stage are thinking its the way to go.
I am also finding hiding it can be a little difficult especially as I was in Australia for Christmas/New Year. I am finding the New Years Resolution line works quite well to get out of drinking alcohol! :)

Ha ha! I had to use the old antibiotics card last night but that's not going to cut it for long! Also I hear that apple juice with a bit of soda can look just like white wine to the untrained eye....you just have to go up to the bar and order in stealth mode!

Good luck at the scan today, Amy...hope there's plenty to see!

I think I'm due a week later than I predicted...so mid-Sept.

Could see the sac and a grain of rice but not much else :-(

But, at least it's in the right place, just have to wait a few more weeks!

Nevermind! It's nice to know there's something (or someone) in there though. My next scan is right after CNY so I'm looking forward to a bit more action from the wee one.

I'm starting to get a few more symptoms which is reassuring. I'm getting dizzy spells and sore boobs but thankfully no sickness ;)

Does anyone know if the first appointment at Tseun Yuk includes a scan? I have heard it doesn't, so in which case will arrange a private one for week 9.

Oh, and does anyone know if QM provide an NT test or does that have to be private as well?

I tried to get an Early Consultation at Annerley this week to ask all these questions, but they are fully booked which is a shame.

I think that the very first appointment is just to register and then the first scan will be at 12 weeks. In a normal pregnancy, I think 2 scans is the norm. One at 12 and one much later on. I think lots of people suppliment this with a few extra scans with a private OB.

I don't know what an NT test is??!! He he! Still a bit in the dark over here!

Had the first scan today. Was very tiny but all where it should be and she could detect the heart.
The OB puts me at 6 weeks 3 days which is a few less than I thought I was, I thought I was 7 weeks, so am a bit bummed out that I will have a few extra days of nausea than I was expecting! It has gotten really bad lately although no vomiting and the odd bout of dizzyness. Am really hanging out for the second trimester!!

Hope you ladies are all well.
Take care

joining the club :)

Hi ladies,

I am due for end of august/start of september!
It's my first pregnancy and nobody around had experienced it before, so a little lonely.

I have had a scan 2 weeks ago, and everything seems fine, the tiny baby was pretty clear, I could even see the hart beating, amazing :flower:

I think I went to a rubbish scan place - the iRad is more diagnostic than anything else.

I have an apointment in Central, Tak Shing House on the 9th which will be my 9th week with a OB which I am sure will be much much better. I will ask her about the NT (Downs Syndrome) testing at the same time.

Can't wait to know for sure that all is OK, do not have that many symptoms except extremely sore breasts, an increased appetite and occassional nausea (although have not been sick). I am tired in the evening but fine in the day, so hoping that I stay like this!

Happy new year everyone!

Hello all! I went for a scan yesterday and saw a tiny heart. Due 14th Sept all being well. I've been spotting for about 2 weeks but so far baby's hanging in there. Can't wait until 12 weeks... fingers and toes crossed.

My symptoms are also mild so far thankfully. Chin up poor sick mums!

Hi All,

My symptoms are mild too, to the point I have been stressed about the lack of them!

I also had a facial on holiday this week and just found out they used jasmine oil, which is considered one of the "unsafe" oils in pregnancy. Cue panicking... I washed it straight off after the facial, and it can only have been a small amount as used on the face, but I seem to be terrified of everything at the moment. Am trying to keep a rein on it, and imagine what I would say to my friends if they were stressed!

Scan next Friday which can't come quick enough now, especially since you've all had yours :-)

Hope you are all OK.

Amy

Hi All

Goodbye Kitty, we are due two days apart! I am the 16th Sept.

Wishing I was feeling as well as you all. The nausea has subsided a little, I think the use of sea bands has helped somewhat, but now I have a nasty head cold to deal with! Grrr!

Jjald, I'm sure one facial will be fine, try not to worry too much, although it's easier sad than done!

xx

I think I am due the 11th, will hopefully find out next Friday.

Thanks so much for looking up about the facial - I am calm about it now, I think it just shocked me that they used it without telling me! Anyway, so sweet of you - thanks again.

Which hospitals are you all due to give birth at?

Amy, I know all too well how scary this stage is and all I can say is that you are right to stay calm and try to put it behind you. When I found out I was pregnant (4wks 4days), I looked back on the weeks prior (Christmas and NYE) and seemed to have consumed every 'not while pregnant' item on the list! I'm sure the lists are there simply to guide us. I started having a small reaction to shellfish with my throat becoming sore and I'm now obviously avoiding it.

I'm going through the public system since my medical insurance doesn't cover pregnancy. Although I'm a little jealous of the lovely facilities in Matilda etc, I'd rather keep the $40K for my baby!

Main symptom for me is exhaustion. I'm asleep as soon as I finish my eveing meal!

Hi All

Goodbye Kitty I was exactly the same as you and ate everything I shouldn't have over the Christmas/NY period! I even did a pregnancy test on NYE to know if I could have a few drinks. I was negative so I went right ahead! I was a bit stressed when a second test came back positive 2 days later! Oh well, can't do anything about it now!

I am hopefully going to Matilda to give birth. Our insurance doesn't cover the entire cost, we have to make a co payment, but its not as bad as if you had to cover it yourself. I did give serious thought to QM, but in the end thought I'd be more comfortable at Matilda. I am not having a private room though, that was way out of the budget!!

Take care
xx

I'm QM too.

Our insurance doesn't cover private, I may have to have a C-section due to a back problem, and even my doctor flew from London to use QM as she was based in the UK at the time! I may have a private room depending on the cost as we do get an allowance from my husband's company. I am sure that the accommodation will not even be close to a private, and if we had insurance would not even think twice, but I'll just want to get home asap anyway!

I don't really have an issue with it, I've never been to the Matilda so at least I don't know what I'm missing!

Hi ladies,
Iv just found out ( 2 days ago )that I have a surprise coming in Sep!!
Bit of a shock, but getting used to it, I did 2 home tests and both were positive,so went to the docs on Friday, going back on Mon to get my blood results to see how far gone I am, I think its about 5/6weeks,just dosent seem real....could the tests be wrong I keep thinking lol.
Any ways, Iv been in HK 2 years, but all my friends are mostly single and ALL childless,so just want to make new friends who are in the same boat,as its all a bit over welming...
Wish my mum and sis were here from the UK!!!

Love to chat soon, x

Hello! I know what you mean, although my Mum is desperate to book a flight for a MONTH (!) in September. I have so far got her to agree to wait until I have had my first scan!

Good luck for the doctors on Monday. I am a total novice too, so don't worry about it, I'm assuming that the knowledge will come in due course...

Haha, I think Most of my family would jump on aflight tomo,If I would let them...Nice to know they all care so much tho.

Thanks about the doctors, cant wait, just want to knw how far I really am gone..

Am reading so many books and things online, hope I wont feel like a novice for 2 long, but I think the real knowledge will indeed come in time...
