Due September 2009

Thanks StargazeLilly, I thought as much, I dont see the point in going to see the docter just to see how I feel and then it costing me at least $750 a time, the first and only time I went it cost me $1599,that was for 15 mins of her time, a blood test ,materna and folic Acid .
When I went to see Dr Cori yesteday for the first time,I had more blood tests and my first scan and that cost $2500.

So I think I will just go to Dr Cori each month and it costs what it cost a....and I think Ill have a trip home in April/May and go see my doctor there and tell them of my plans and see what they say, but it is sooo expensive to have a baby herea?!

I saw Dr Cori at 4.30, and she had more people coming in so am sure 5pm will be fine and it is opend on Sat, her number is:2525 9213 / 2523 3328.

Hope this helps.

xx

UNBELIEVABLE! Just had a meeting booked for Tuesday lunchtime. How are you all fixed for Monday or Wednesday? So sorry ladies...

Pre-natal yoga at lunch time was good. Not exactly hard work compared to normal Hatha etc, but a good stretch never did any harm. Ladies with various sized bumps, right up to some about to pop! I think it would be more beneficial later in pregnancy, or for beginners but I will continue to go in conjunction with "normal" classes.

Dear Due Sept 2009 "gang",

I am new to Geobaby and definately new to this forum. Hope it's still ok to join you guys.

I assumed a pregnancy after not having my period last month and after doing a home test but did not want to read too much into it yet. This Monday I have been to the GP for flu treatment, when he did another test. So appearantly I am pregnant. I still can't believe it somehow!

And having followed all your comments in this forum I feel like I am totally behind everything. Gyn visit, registration.... I am not even sure what to do first and how everything works in HK. I have a basic idea but still many questions.

Well, currently I am waiting for my insurance to tell me what they cover and what not. Then I thouht I decide to go either private or the public way. Hope my insurance answers soon so that I can get started.

Any advice from your side is highly welcome.

Talk to you soon

Hi CindyB
Welcome to our little group and congratulations!!

I dont have much advice for you, other than they book you in for private hospitals really early here, I know Matilda is 9 weeks, so you need to decide fairly early which hospital you want (which often depends on the doctor). No doubt you will be given all the info at your OBGYN visit, but there is a fair bit of information on the individual hospital websites where you can get an idea of costs and booking procedures/deposits etc.
So really the first thing you need to do is decide on a Doc and go from there, you can always see a private OB and then deliver publicly. If you are unsure of which Doc there is a list on this website somewhere and plenty of opinions!! Good Luck!!

Jjald, I am fine for Mon or Wed. I found the prenatal yoga a bit easy too at this stage, but better than nothing, although I haven't been the last two weeks as I've been too nauseous! Hoping to get back into it next week.

Hi Everyone, and welcome CindyB. Don't worry, I don't know anything! I am hoping that my gyn appointment tomorrow and hospital appointment next week will help!

If you are really feeling in the dark then Annerley midwives do an early consultation for about $250 where they take you through the basic HK process.

I'll start a new lunch thread as it's getting confusing. Plus, gyn appointments, vomiting and sore boobs don't go so well alongside talk of lunch dates!!

Second day back at work after my holiday and I am exhausted!

Amy

Hi Flack,

thanks so much for your quick reply. Yes, I heard bookings for hospitals are made very early here which is crazy somehow. Anyway,,,

I was also thinking of doing some prenatal activities like yoga, and that it is easy sounds very good to me, as I usually don't do any sports. Any places you can recommend?

Would like to meet up with you some time as well. I am sure you have a lt of valuable input for me.

Cheers

CindyB

Come to lunch next Weds if you like, would be great to see you.

I go to Pure Yoga in Central. You can go too on a trial class, you just need to call them. The number is 2971 0055.

I go to yoga at Anahata Yoga, which I really like, and a lot of ladies here go to Pure yoga. They are both in Central though, dont know of any out your way. I think both places let you do a trial class.
I think Jjald goes to Pure, so she can give you the details, anahata has a website at www.anahatayoga.com.hk

Hi Jjald,

thanks for the number of the Yoga place, I will call them.

Can't do lunch next Wednesday but definately count me in for any other meetings. I work in Central, so it should be quite convenient to meet.

Hi Flack,

just saw that you have replied too. This forum is super fast! Will check out the website as well. Thanks!

Welcome CindyB,
Think we are all in the dark a bit so,dont feel too worried,as I think you'll find it will all fall into place and you learn as you go along.
I only found out on thursday, which was a BIG surprise and now only a week later, have learnt so much already and finding this site has really helped.
Hopefully meet up soon...

Jjald what day are we doing lunch?
xx

Wednesday if you can make it - let me know! I put an invite thing on the June - September forum.

I really should do more work and spend less time on here...!

Hi All,

Just got back from my scan - all OK, and my due date is 11 September.

I am going back in 3 weeks for Downs testing etc.

Got some pictures, but cannot scan them to everyone at home as the scanner does not seem to pick up the images which is a shame. I'll ask for a CD next time.

I thought Dr Cora was really nice.

Have a good weekend everyone!

PS Am regretting comment about pre-natal yoga yesterday. My thights are really sore from all the squats!

Hey Jjald,
So good to hear all was ok,I go back for those test in a months time....
Also I am due a week after you.

I had the some problem with the pic,so I just took a photo of the picture close up and it came out really good, make sure its flat (blue tic it down or something) that way you wont get the light shinning on it.

she is really nice,am pleased to have found her.

Hope your legs feel better soon,at least its the weekend, have a good one every one xx

Great news that your scan went well Jjald! I have my scan on Mon and I cannot wait. I am hanging to know the EDD. Wish me luck at Tsan Yuk tomorrow ... hopefully I will not have to wait too many hours! Will let you all know how it goes and what actually happens. xx

Oooh, let me know how long it takes. Mine is next Saturday, just after my brother arrives from London, I'm realy hoping it won't take too long!

Hi Girls,

I went to Tsan Yuk today to register, it was all pretty simple and efficient and the staff very friendly. It is simply a registration and you do not see a doctor just nurses.

First you have to give over all your documentation - yours and hubbys id cards, referral letter, proof of address and then they measure your height. They did not take weight or blood pressure or anything like that - just height - weird! Then they give you a record book and booklet of info (really good) and ask you to fill in personal details. Once the group is all ready they take you over together to watch a video with info about the antenatal process and downs syndrome. It went for about 1/2 hr. Then you get called in one by one to meet with the nurse to discuss previous history, details of pregnancy etc. Depending on your info she may refer you to see another nurse who is associated with the high risk dept. Then you have a blood test for HIV, RH factor etc. Once you have then made your first antenatal appt (mine is at 12 weeks) you are free to go.

We got there at 10.30am cause I had read in another thread to be early. I would suggest to get there earlier than 11am but no need to get there really early cause they seemed to wait for everyone anyway before they would show the video and then the appt with the nurse after that and blood test was really efficient and quick. Today was not very busy (def no more than 10 ladies for the 11am english slot). I am not sure if this is the case every week. We were finished by 12.30pm and it did not cost anything.

As for scans it was hard to get a straight clear answer on that one and I think that is because it is run by another dept. One thing I can confirm is that at my first anenatal appt I have booked there is no scan on that day.

Anyway, I hope this helps those who are going to register in the coming weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.

xx
