Due Sept 2... new to HK...

Hi Ali

Lovely to hear your news, congrats on your new arrival. I hope BF becomes easier soon ;-)

I went to the docs yesterday and the neck of my womb hasn't even started to open yet - so I still have some time to wait!! So I was a bit disappointed yesterday - (Heleen I told you I would be last!!)

Hope all is well with everyone, looking forward to meeting up soon ;-)

Love Rach xxx

Hi everyone!
congrats on all the new babies (by now rachel has also given birth!!) so I'm the only one still waiting.... and I can tell you I'm getting more tired of it by the minute. I'm going for a check up QM tomorrow, and they will then decide if they have to induce the pregnancy this weekend, so we'll see what happens.
Good luck on the breastfeeding and everything new.

H.

Can't wait to meet all the babies...
good luck with the deliveries Heleen and Rachel...
It'll all be worth it when you meet your little ones!

Hi Guys

Lily Ann was born on 2nd September at 11:28. I was in labour for 3 hours so it was all happened pretty quickly, which I'm relieved about! We are all doing well and back at home now although I am v tired ;-)

Hope you are all well, good luck Heleen ;-)

See you all soon

Love Rach xxx

Congrats Rachel... Lily Ann is such a beautiful name.
Glad everything went well for you.

Me too.. I'm also very tired.. if I don't nap in the afternoon, by 6pm, I can't really function anymore.

Take care!

Congrats Rachel,

What a sweet name Lily Ann. :)
You're in labour for only 3hrs?? Unbelievable!!! You are such a lucky mom.

Theresa,
I found a better way to breast feed Abigail by pumping the breast milk out and feeding her using a milk bottle. Each feeding would last her for about 3 hrs. (120cc) Therefore, I have more time to rest as my mom will help to feed Abigail whenever she needs. I do try to feed her during daytime if I could. It is because I do not want her to stick to the bottle feeding. How many hours were you in the labour? Did you take epidural?

Heleen,
Havent hear from you, I'd presume your bundle of joy has already arrived :) Do enjoy every moments of it....

Cant wait to meet all the mom and babies soon.

Cheers,
Ai li

sorry for not letting you know earlier, but was only discharged yesterday, after having had my lovely GIRL (can you believe it's also a girl) on monday night. It was a long labour, tiresome delivery which ended in a assisted delivery (vacuum) and now Anri are still being monitored in hospital. We hope she'll be coming home on sunday.
Good luck with all of your little ones!

Ai li, which pump are you using for pumping breast milk?

heleen.

Congrats Heleen,

Cant believe we all are having girls :-D

It's going to be a ladies/ girls outing for us soon.

I am using Mini electric pump (Medela) which it works well for me. However, I have to bear the noise each time i do the pumping. (it is quite noisy, and Abigail doesnt like the noise either, which I have to leave the room each time I do the pumping.. Other than that, i find it very easy to use and sterilise.

Heleen, If you are doing breast feeding, you may need more than a pump. The more accessories you have, the more comfortable you are. (this is my theory :P)

After pumping the breast milk, you need a bag/container/ bottle to storage.

If you do realise that each time you are feeding your baby, another side of your breast will leak. I bought a milk collection cup from Medela, which it collects the milk at the same time I am feeding Abigail.

Nursing pillow also a great help for better positioning for mom. I didnt have nursing pillow for only 3 days, and I hurt my back :(

If you have sore nipples, you may look for nipple shield to protect your nipple against the breast pad or bra (rubbing) Some people use pure lanolin, which i find it too sticky for applying. (not smooth) i feel like I am applying glue onto my nipples.

Hope my 2 cents advice helps :)
Enjoy the bundle of joy.

Cheers,
Ai li

Hey mommies...
We all have girls! It'll be fun when we get to all come out later on!
How's everyone doing?
Breastfeeding has finally gotten easier for me. The tough part has past, so I'm starting to love it again.
I am thinking of getting a medela pump so my husband can feed sometimes too... not sure yet.

Ai Li, the epidural was great... I'll tell you about it next time we meet up.

When are you guys able to come out...
I've been to elements, the mall above Kowloon station, and its great for mom's with babies. The changeroom is spacious and quite, I fed my baby there.

Or if you guys want, you can come over to my place.

Let me know what you guys think...or when you'll be able to venture out.

Talk to you soon!

Hi there

Breast feeding is also becoming better for me too, although I wouldn't say I am at the loving it stage yet ;-) Lily has been suffering from trapped wind for the past few days, so it has been a tough couple of days!

We have been out a few times, Lily has visited the Big Buddha and Hong Kong Park although to be fair she has slept through it all!! Will be great to meet up, can't wait to meet you all ;-)

I can recommend the changing/feeding facilities at Pacific Place ;-)

Hope you are all well

Looking forward to seeing you all soon

Rach xxx

hi all,
I admire you for venturing out already, although Anri did only come home on monday, so I'm still giving myself time to adjust to the new person in the house!
Breastfeeding is also better than a couple of days ago, and I feel with you, Rach, because Anri also suffered from wind, but that's also sorted now!

Good luck

h.

Hi Heleen,

Glad to hear that Anri is at home with you ;-) What have you done to fix the trapped wind? I am using grip water and infacol which is helping but Lily is still suffering ;-(

Using the same as you, but I also found that I spent too much time trying to get rid of the wind, and it just made her more grumpy. Now I just spend a minute or so winding her, and then I just hold her in a position that she finds comfortable, and the wind eventually breaks!

Hi Theresa

Yes I have a gassy baby, it seems to be trapped in the bottom of her tummy and causes some discomfort ;-( Do you have any experience/advise for this?

Wish I had a cure for it... I don't remember Katelyn being that gassy, with Ashley my newborn, she seems to be really gassy. Even after burping her, she still spits out and I can see her discomfort from gas. Today was her one month check up and her doctor told me to use Infacol Wind drops before feeding her and it should make the gas come out a lot easier. Hope this will help her. I don't mind the spit up.. I just worry that she'll spit up during her sleep and choke on it... because of that, she's been sleeping with me every night.
What have you guys been doing to make your babies feel better?

Hi Katelyn

Lily has her good and bad days but I have also been using Infacol as well as gripe water inbetween if she needs it - she seems to love the taste of both! I also try to cycle her legs to help move the gas but she doesn't like this very much and I have propered her matresses up in her cot so she is not flat and at a slight angle.

I am also paying close attention to my diet, at the moment I am cutting out wheatabix as I had read on another site that some babies react badly to the wheat in your milk - although I'm not sure of the effects of this so far.

It all seems like trial and error to me at the moment

I hope that things will improve soon.

Rach xx

Two weeks old

Hi ladies!

This is my first time logging onto Geobaby and posting a note for you all. I just had my first baby couple weeks ago and have been adjusting to being a new mommy. Its definitely alot of work and I'm totally sleep deprived, but its all been worth it. Hope to connect with some of you out there with newborns.

Cheers!

Hi all! My lovely baby is a month old today, can't believe how time flies. What about a get together, seeing that by now everybody has passed the one month stage? Maybe at Theresa's place?

hope to see you soon
Heleen
