So I get to be the first person to start a thread in this area!! I guess the people who are due in November and December don't even KNOW that they're pregnant yet - so it's just people who are due in October really...

I'm due around Oct 28. I'm just 4-5 weeks pregnant now and haven't really done anything more than just get my pregnancy tests!!

Anyone else due around then??

Hi! I'm due around Oct 24! Nice to meet you!
This is our first one so we're soooooo terribly excited. We've already had our first prenatal and told the obgyn to book a bed at Matilda for us.
I know it's really silly but I couldn't resist the temptation to get some maternity clothes, haha, I just think it's awesome to be pregnant!

Hi soon2bmom!!

I haven't had a prenatal visit yet - my MIL has been visiting from Australia (I found out when she was here already!!) so I haven't had any me/hubby time for a while!! She leaves tomorrow so I can start thinking about all that kind of thing then!!

What did they do at the prenatal visit for you?? I don't want to go "too early" and have them not be able to do anything... but I really want to go already!!

I thought of looking for some maternity clothes but I wouldn't even know what size to buy!! There's a lot of sales on at the moment though so maybe it'd be easy to pick something up cheap!! *shrugs*

I can't wait to have a pregnant belly!! I think they're so cute ;) But I hope I don't get stretch marks or put on too much weight!!

Hi!
Well, the prenatal visit was indeed too early, we knew that, but we had to since Matilda told us they were getting full for Oct so we had to see the doctor asap to have him book for us. The visit was quite short, just some basic medical history and a vaginal exam. I will go for another one in two weeks time, and according to the doctor (we are with Dr. Philip Ho), we should be able to see something on the u/s then!
I don't feel any morning sickness yet, how about you? I just sleep a lot (lucky that I don't have to work) and eat more frequently but in smaller portion.

I don't feel any morning sickness - but I'm REALLY TIRED - I haven't been sleeping enough though. I'm hungry ALL the time but as soon as I start to eat, I'm not that hungry - it's crazy...

Where abouts do you live? And how long have you been in Hong Kong for?? I'm in North Point, been here only a year...

Hi girls,

I am due on 21st October with number 1. Very excited.

I also can't believe how tired I am these days. Only slight morning sickness but so long as I have something to eat every couple of hours I seem to have it under control.

Not in HK at the moment so will have to sort out doctors etc when I get back next week.Any recommendations?

I'm going to see Dr Dawkins - I've heard lots of good stuff about him but I haven't seen him yet.

So are you just moving to Hong Kong? Or are you on holidays at the moment??

On holiday at the moment, catching up with friends and family. Been living in HK for about 3 1/2 years. We live in Clearwater Bay.

Thanks for the doctors name will give him a call next week.

Hello new mummy's,

I am due October 28th and this is our first - I foudn out 2 weeks ago and it was a wonderful surprise!! I haev been living in HK for 6 months and work full time in a hotel with long hours which is killing me right now. I am so tired and very weepy - I cry at nothing! Also in a bit of pain - similiar to period pain but apparently all normal.
I have decided to try public care and have our first appt on Apirl 4 where we will hopefully book a bed - are you all doing private or public? Any ideas where is best for public?

So many questions...I can not wait to get big and show offmy bump - I haev already looked at www.topshop.com for fab trendy maternity bits I can ship over!!

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you? I'm 8w+5 and due October 5th and it's my first baby. I've had two scans already and it's just amazing seeing the baby.

Soon2bmum - I'm with Dr Ho too - he's lovely - I would definitely recommend him to anyone. I'm also booked into the Matilda.

Kharel - Wow you must be shattered working long hours. The good public hosptial is Queen Mary in Pokfulam (I think?....someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Mazamarie - Great that you don't have bad morning sickness. I've had it since week 4 and I'm constantly nauseaus. I've tried acupuncture which has helped a little. Everyone keeps telling me that m/s is good as it means your hormone levels are high, but when you're getting up in the night to be sick you just want it go to away. I too have found that constantly eating helps - I'll be the size of a house by the time the baby comes :haha:

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months.

Hooray!

This club is really happening! I'm so glad!

Well, I live in Tung Chung, so I guess it's really far away from anywhere around Central, which I guess is where most expats hang out? I've also just been in HK for a year.

If anyone is looking for an obgyn, I'm with Dr. Philip Ho and I found out that he was trained in Australia (UNSW, 1984, I saw his plaque in the waiting room). Coming from Australia myself, that gave me extra reassurance! :-). So if Dr. Dawkins is going back home, nicolejoy, maybe you can give Ho a try.

By the way, if anyone wants to take a tour at Matilda, Inty Ting is the Client Relations Manager, her tel is 28490355 and email is [email protected]

I've got to come up here everyday and chat from now on!

You're due the same day as me!! Woohoo!! :flower:

Dawkins is planning on leaving HK this summer. Best to check with his nurse.

Thanks for letting me know. I might call and switch doctors. I haven't seen him yet so it's no big deal to switch now... if I meet him and love him, I won't wanna switch!!

Anyone else in a bit of pain - it feels like a period pain but no bleeding or anything - as its my first I wonder if this is normal..???

I have two types of pain, one is like very mild period pain; the other one is more well localized to my right ovary. But I don't need to take pain killers or anything, sleeping makes the pain go away a little. No bleeding or spotting..... but I don't know if it's normal or not. But I guess no bleeding is always a good thing.

I don't have morning sickness - but I feel a BIT more queasy - like TINY waves of nausea - but it's nothing major... if it doesn't get worse, I'll have an easy pregnancy ;)

I get a bit of pain/cramping... and last night I had a sharp pain in my left side... I don't think it was anything major though... I read to "look out for" localised pain - if it is ALL on the left side, then it may be ectopic... and also bleeding... and I haven't had either. I've had some pain only on the left, some only on the right - it's kinda all over the place - but not consistently one spot.

Oh - and I just cancelled my appt with Dr Dawkins. He's leaving in July and I don't want to have to switch doctors when I'm 6 months pregnant. Now to make another appointment with someone else!!

I'm trying to figure out the whole health insurance thing, exactly how much we're covered, and whether it's better financially to go public or private...

(we are with Dr. Philip Ho)

I just booked an appt with him for Tuesday. He was HEAPS easier to get into than Dr Dawkins - and just from the one phonecall, his staff seemed nicer too!! But obviously I've never met either of the doctors yet... I'm looking forward to Tuesday though!! I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday so hopefully we'll be able to see a heartbeat!!

Hi Girls

I've just found out that I am preggers with baby number two, and number one is only 5 months old. Ahhhh! Baby 2 is due 31 October - by my estimation, though seeing the Dr for the first time on Monday so should have more confirmed then. No morning sickness yet though only had mild nausea first time round so not expecting anything major. Good tip - anything with ginger in it is good for nausea and sickness - biscuits, tea, cake etc.

If it is any help to anyone choosing between private and public, Charlotte was born at Queen Mary's, Pok Fu Lam, and I cannot fault their care, especially as she was 6 weeks premature and was in ICU for a while.

I would love to join your group, as long as you don't mind me dragging along my daughter Charlotte to any lunches we have. I was, and still am, a member of last October's GeoBaby group and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you too.
