Dear Erib32, welcome to Hong Kong and congrats on the pregnancy. We have organised a lunch for next Tuesday and you are more than welcome to join us - it will be in central. If you are keen please feel free to PM me your email and I will email you through the info. Big decision to go through on Doctors and Hospitals and thankfully a few options. Personally, I am seeing Dr Lucy Lord (she is a UK doctor been here delivering for around 20 years), and hope to deliver at Matilda. This will be my second pregnancy, but first in HK. I have an 11 month old little girl, Emma. We all seem to be seeing different people and planning to go to different hospitals, so if you can make lunch probably a good opportunity to chat about it all then. Hope you are well and everything going smooth so far.
 
Great news Pinkballerina, it's amazing to see and hear a tiny heartbeat! Aussiemum how did your scan go, all good? I am having my 7 week scan on Tuesday morning so I can (fingers crossed) share my excitement when we meet for lunch! Good luck to all...
 
Kathrine, good to hear everything went fine ! we are really getting closer now...our EDD, is a few days appart !

Welcome! I am from the States too. I am from Atlanta, GA! We moved here about 2 years ago.
i am about 6 weeks now and I do have a 3 year old boy, but this is my first baby in HK. I see Dr. Grace Cheung. She is in the same office as Dr. Lucy Lord. She is very friendly and took the time to chat with me about everything. I too am planning on delivering at Matilda hospital. But it is a private hospital so it will be quite expensive. I am checking with our insurance to see how much they cover and if it is not enough, I will probably deliver at Queen Mary. It is a public hospital and therefore cheaper!

hi babymo, sorry to hear about the news. The dates must be incorrect as these things happen even though one's cycles are regular. Hope this week will pass quickly for you.

Sorry to hear about the scan and as the others have said, perhaps the dates are incorrect and its a little too early to see the heartbeat.

Nothing we say is going to make you feel any better but best to try to keep your chin up and stay positive :smile:

Welcome Erib32! I'm 7 weeks pregnant and seeing Dr. Alexander Doo in Central. I'm also hoping to deliver at the Matilda.

Also a big welcome to Erib32, seems that we have a few ladies from the US! I am Dutch (husband Swedish) and we have been in Hong Kong since July. I am seeing Doctor A. Gosh in Wanchai tomorrow for the first time, will let you know how it went when we see each other for lunch..

Babymo, hang in there! I am also keeping my fingers crossed for you, remember there is no need to panic yet!
 
Hello everyone,

Hope you had a great week end ! Mine was relaxing, hubby has been working all week end, so I slept, slept and slept...oh no I prepared the suitcases also :-)

Still feeling nauseous, but I found that sparkling water is helping a little ! so now I have a bottle of San Beneditto 1.5L with me all day.

I've decided I'll tell my boss today...I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow and won't see her before end of january...the 3rd month will be over by then. Moreover, my collegue is 6 weeks pregnant too, and I'd like to be the first one to tell her, so that she is not pissed of with me...yes I know it's not fair for my colleague...but I was the 1st one ! We are a little cie, only 6 employees, and we are 2 to be preggy at the same time ! that sucks for the cie !

Well, my boss is still not at the office...It's a little stressful !

I'm very impatient to be tomorrow morning for my scan, hope everything will be fine.

Babymo, I keep my fingers crossed for you.

i am mentally prepared.. but just want to know asap as its a bit frustruting not knowing if i am still pregnant or not! sigh!!

at least i tell myself its v early. so i didnt lose too much time/effort and emotions YET!

how are u all? mondays always slow!!
 
Finally told my boss...I'm relieved ! she was ok with the news, she first got scared and though I was going back home to deliver...when I told her I was not moving from HK and I was not quitiing my job and I'll be back after the 10 weeks maternity leave, she was relieved too !

One good thing done !

Hi Ladies,

Thank you all for the wonderful doctor/hospital advice. It was very helpful and I was able to see Dr. Lucy Lord today for my first real appt! I won't be able to join tomorrow as I have a licensing test to take for my job, but I definitely would like to meet everyone next week, or whenever the next lunch is. Thanks again everyone for the advice and I look forward to meeting you all!

Sorry for my absence yesterday. I'm starting to get bad morning sickness and can't seem to face sitting at the computer :( Seems to hit me around lunch time and I have it all afternoon and night. What fun!

Jeanne, I hope your scan goes well today. Please let us know how it goes. Great that you were able to tell your boss the news without any dramas. Now you'll be able to relax on your holiday. I hope you have a lovely time!

Hello everybody !

Just out of Dr Lord's office. Everything went fine...I saw my little one for the first time ! 2 legs, 2 arms with little hands, a big head and a big body...2.9cm. Everything is great! didn't hear the heart beat but Dr said it was here and good.

I'm so excited ! hubby was here, and was so happy too ! big emotions today !

Have a great lunch girls, hope everybody's doing ok today.
