Due July 2009

Thanks Kath, will send you a PM.

Hi Jeanne. Meal planning should be more enjoyable without morning sickness! Great to know there are preggy yoga buddies out there! I really look forward to start again. It's been 3 months since I last did yoga and I miss the feel good factor after class. I plan to start in Feb and definitely will visit Pure soon.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend, could not have asked for better weather! Great news, Jeanne on the sickness! We signed for an apt, so that is a relief- we'll be on Robinson Road in the Mid Levels.

Just wondering- is anyone having a hard time sleeping? I sleep great for about 4 hours, then wide awake for 2 or 3 then I am lucky to doze off a bit before having to get up in the morning. I have heard about pregnancy insomnia, but this is no fun!

Happy monday! :)

Hi ladies, hope you enjoy the sun and blue sky this week-end !

Good news Mari for your appartment ! I'm with you concerning the insomnia !!! I have 1 good night out of 6 or 7 ! And I'm doing quite a lot of dreams or nightmares that usually wake me up ! I agree, it's no fun at all...

Wow that's going to be a big group on the 8th. So we need quite a bit of room. The restaurants on the Peak are quite spacious. I was wondering if we may could consider Saturday too, as I wouldn't need to bring my son. Its just not as easy with him in a restaurant at this age. And for a few of you is the second child , so may you have the same problem???
Anyway I start to get my energy back and I am not sick anymore ( still don't like lots of smells).
Wish all of you a good week and let me know if you find out about pregnancy yoga or pilates in the late afternoon or evening ( cant wait to stop working:-).
Kat

Hapa - I hear you with the insomnia. I wake up at 5:30 a.m. faithfully everyday. Then need to take a nap around 7. I am really hoping it gets better - dragging through the day!

Looking forward to Yoga tomorrow!!

I just had my NT scan this afternoon and everything went well, low risk for Down Syndrome, which is a big relief! Baby was very active and kept sucking its fingers - very cute and exciting as this is my first abdominal scan. Doc could count 5 fingers on each hand but I can only see a blob. Baby has a high nose bridge, which is probably from my DH as I have a rather flat nose. Gender is unclear yet as it is still early, I'm just 11 weeks + 1 but she said she should be able to tell at the next appointment in 3 weeks.

I was wondering if anyone is keen to take up pre-natal Yoga class at Yoga Central (located in Central). Pure Yoga's schedule doesn't work for me as I work quite erratic schedules and travel quite frequently. I know Yoga Central is not opening up a new class but they will take individual class ($600 per hour) or 2-person class ($800 per hour, ie. $400 each person). I'm happy to do once a week each weekend (flexible on time). If anyone is interested, please PM me. Thanks!

Hi Girls,

How are you all? I hope you are all feeling well.

Sorry for my lack of contact lately. I haven't been feeling well due to shocking back and pelvic pain. I finally saw a physio today and they found that my pelvis was way out of alignment so I have to have regular treatments over the next few weeks. The good news is that I feel much better after my treatment today but the bad news is that I can't do yoga or any other exercise until the correct it properly. So, I won't be able to join you girls at Pure Yoga tomorrow. I'm so disappointed! :bawling:

Mari, that's great news that you found an apartment! Did you end up with the one in our building by any chance? Either way, you are still close to me. We'll have to organise to do some walks up Bowen Road sometime. You must be so excited about finally being able to get the nursery set up too

Melissa & Mari, I hear you on the insomnia. I was sleeping really well until I developed the pelvis and back probs. It is worse when lying down, so I wake up at all hours of the night with pain. I hope it improves for you both very soon.

Jeanne, I'm so glad you are starting to feel heaps better.

Welcome Joanne821, looking forward to meeting you at our next catch up!

Kath, my hubby and I are fine for the get together on the 8th, so count us in!

Anyway, I hope you've all had a fab Monday. Looking forward to our next catch up.

New recruit!

Hi gorgeous girls. Found out another girl I know in HK is pregnant and guess when she is due.......July!! She is good for Feb 8th, too. So, now I just need to get her on here. And she is starting Pure Yoga in February!!

Pumped for Yoga tomorrow! Sorry you can't join us Pinkballerina. I went to Pure Fitness today for the Prenatal Fitness class and it was all about pelvic alignment and how it is so easy to go out of wack. Get it all fixed up and you'll join us in no time.

I am going to have another "snack" if my husband doens't get home soon!!!

Hi girls !

Change of plan, we go to Macau on thursday ! Finally coming to Yoga today with my colleague Anuja (11w pregnant).

Hope you'll get it all fixed soon Pinkballerina...

Hope everybody is doing good today !

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum and am actually moving to Hong Kong from Australia in March 09. I am pregnant with my second child (first one just turned two) who is due 26 July. THis forum sounds like lots of fun with lots of support, so was wondering if I could join?

I also have some questions if you don't mind.. I have been reading various forums on geobaby, and whilst I was originally going to go to QM for delivery, my husband prefers that we go private, so i've been thinking about Adventist? Is anyone booked to go there?

Also, any recommendations for private obs? Does anyone know what my chances are with booking a private obs in March (ie so late in the pregnancy?)

Thanks!

Hello ladies, how are we all? Welcome MuminHk to the forum, we really hope you can make our catch ups once you have settled into HK. I am also from Oz (in case you didn't guess) and have a one year old as well. We have only been here for 6 months but it is great, really enjoying it so far. I don't know much about Adventist, but know that both with Adventist and Matilda (the other very popular private international Hospital) you need to book in early and pay a deposit. Also, I think some Obs get preference for their clients in certain hospitals. Personally, I am seeing Dr Lucy Lord from Central Health. There are two Obs there, the other being Dr Grace Cheung. Both are extremely popular and have a great reputation. Details are below:
http://www.centralhealth.com.hk/
So far I have been very happy with Dr Lord, and have a few friends who's baby she has delivered. They too have been happy with her. In saying that, there are many good obs in HK, and many of the mums to be in this forum are seeing many different ones. I will send you a PM with further details. Re booking Obs in March, I would recommend phoning ahead and speaking to them directly. I know Central Health have many Midwives who are very informative on the phone. I know that many book up quickly (I was told when I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks I might not get in to see Dr Lord, but thankfully I did.
Zany500 - I am off to Macau on Friday for 5 days, so maybe we will run into each other there.
MisB - feel free to pass today's email onto your pregnant friend, and if she can make it, I will add her to the list!
PinkB- sorry to hear about your back, hope it continually improves for you. What a bummer about Yoga, I am hoping to join once I have a helper organised for Emma.
Woodstock07 - congrats on your scan, glad to hear all went well.
All - I am having very weird dreams as well. Had a weird one the other night that I had an affair with Gordon Ramsay (weird!). Thankfully we didn't kiss or anything more, but when reporting all this back to my husband he is beginning to think I am weird! They are really vivid and I feel like I am waking from really heavy sleeps. I could sleep through an earthquake at the moment.
Hope all is well with everyone today.

Welcome and congrats MuminHK! I just replied to your question in the Dr Doo thread. Not that I was much help but I definitely recommend you give the clinic a call and I'm sure they'll give you some details over the phone. I'm not seeing the Doc for another 3 weeks, otherwise I could've got their price list for you. I'm also an Aussie and have been living here for 18 months.

AussieMum, thanks for your thoughts. I've had two physio treatments this week and another one on Friday so am starting to feel a lot better. The physio says I'm responding well to the treatment, so I'm happy about that  She has recommended I take up pilates once she's got my pelvis sorted out.

I cracked up over your dreams about Gordon Ramsay. Classic! Have you been watching too much of the Lifestyle channel lately ;)

MisB, I'm really looking forward to joining the prenatal fitness classes at Pure. They sound great and my physio said that I'll be fine to start in a couple of weeks. Yay!

I hope everyone else is feeling well and you all enjoy the CNY break. I'm very jealous of the people going to warm beach locations. I'll be freezing in snowy Japan. Will be nice to get away though.

Just a little message to wish you all a very happy new year of the Ox ! Enjoy your holidays !

Hope everybody is doing good.

Jeanne

Hi everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for emailling the contacts list Kath. I'm in the throws of organising my move from Melbourne to Hong Kong, and it seems that everytime I strike something off my to do list, I add another two! At this rate, I'll still be here in July :)

I did have a questions about Queen Mary. Is there anyone here who's going to deliver at Queen Mary? My husband has a permanent HK ID card (it had 3 stars??) and I'm presuming I'll also be able to apply for some sort of resident HK ID Card (but it doesn't have 3 stars?). So, with this ID card, will I be treated at the Queen Mary as a public patient? or will I need to be admitted as a private patient?

Also, I'm thinking about having an elective c-section done (cos I had an emergency one last time), do Queen Mary cater for booking elective c-section as a public patient? or will I need to wait until I go into labour and see what they think on the day?

Does anyone know?

PS. Happy Chinese New year to all!!

Cheers

Hi Ladies! I hope you all had a nice New Years Holidays! I was quite jealous reading about all your fun adventures as I was stuck here organizing our new house. Not fun! And today I am off to Tokyo for a trade show- back in a week! Hope you all are well, looking forward to seeing you next weekend!

Mari

Hi all
Looks like everyone has been a little quiet on the forum front. Hope everyone is doing well!
Tash- I know that this is late notice, but we actually have a group gathering this Sunday (tomorrow) including husbands and any kids some might have. It is to be at Floating Restaurants. I will send you my email via PM, please feel free to email me if you wish for further info or want to come along, we would love to meet with you and your dad to be!
hapa808- hope you had a great time in Tokyo.
MuminHK - I am not sure of the details of QMH, but as a Melbournian, never been to HK before, we got a HK ID via my husbands work visa, and as a result I am sure if we needed to are entitled to public services provided at QMH. Some of the girls are though planning on QMH, so maybe best to check with some of them. As for the elective c-section, from word of mouth, I think that you can't elect for this in public unless there is a medical reason. Probably best to check with your Ob when you get here.
Happy CNY to everyone as well! Really looking forward to catching up this Sunday for a food fest!
xoxo

Hi Ladies,

How is everyone today? To those who were at the lunch yesterday, thanks so much for a fantastic day and thanks Kath for organising it all. My hubby and I had a great time and it was so nice to meet your other halves.

I'm already looking forward to the next one! I think we definitely should do a junk trip at some stage if we can, especially before it gets to hot and we get too big.

Have a great week everyone, especially the girls who are finding out the sex of their bubs this week. How exciting!!

Melinda xx

Hi ladies !

Hope you enjoyed the lunch sunday as much as we did ! was really great meeting you all again ! Sorry we didn;t have a chance to speak with everybody...next time for sure.

Little update on my side...I had a scan today, and I'm very frustated !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still don't know the sex...grrrrrrrrrr
Once the scan was over, hubby asked Dr Lord when she will be able to tell us, and she replied :"Oh ! I could do it today, but I didn't know if you were willing to or not !"

I'm so pissed off ! she is the one to ask if we want to know or not ! grrrrrrrr

Well, it's just curiosity anyway, the baby is doing great, sounds like it's going to be a quite healthy and big baby ! 227g instead of 150g average at that stage ! yes yes...and his head is the size of a 18w3d baby...hope it's gonna slow down...:-)

Going for the morpho scan on Feb 27th...this time, I'll jump on the sonographer and ask for the sex before the scan starts ! 17 more days to wait !

Hope to have some updates of you girls soon.

Jeanne
