Hi. I'm new to Hong Kong and am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby - due early Jan. Would love to meet anyone else in the same boat!!

Ah, that's fab! So exciting having that first scan isn't it?

We had our first appointment and scan at 7 weeks with a private OB. We've also signed up for the Annerley package, so we are going for a midwife check up and scan next week.
Which route are you going? Private or public? I'm going to delivery baby at Queen Mary but will be using a private OB for prenatal checkups.
Where in HK are you located?
 
Oh nice! We are going private, we will be having the baby at the Matilda. My next scan isn't until 12 weeks. Can't wait to see how much the baby has grown! Are you finding out what you're having? We are in wan chai. Where abouts are you?
 
We are in Mid-levels. Ah, no ideas on whether we are going to find out what we're having yet. Are you? What date are you due? Looks like we'll be in Hong Kong over the Christmas hols then, haha.
 
No we're not finding out...I'd love to but my husband won't let me! It will be a nice surprise. We are due the 4th of January. What date are you? Haha yes !! We've had to change our Christmas plans!

Hi there I am thinking of queen Mary too , but I still haven't decided , I'm only around 5 weeks and haven't had any scans or anything done yet . Gonna get it checked firs thing tomorrow
 
Carlymw, I'm due 4th Jan too. Haha.

Vonzi, congrats! I definitely recommend going to Annerley to see them for a free consultation. They detail everything you need to know about post-natal care and delivery in the public or private system. Really helped us to make our decision easier.

I'm 8w 6 and awaiting my first check up at Annerley (best of both package) at 10w. Didn't have any checkup or scans before this, so getting quite eager :)
Just registered at United Christian but I will be out of HK in week 11+12 so they can't make the NT scan, anyone who can recommend a private to make this scan instead?

I recommend Dr Hon, his clinic is located in Central and he can do those tests for you. He's happy to see you ( think he may be one of the few) for prenatal appointments or one-off scans, even if you're not using him for delivery in a private hospital.

Number is 2899 2293. I would call soon as he can't take appointments with less than 2 weeks notice.

Unsure of the cost as I'll have my tests at the hospital, but an ultrasound was $2300 for me. My friend who has had her baby said her appointments with him were never over $4000.
 
Hi everyone!
I am 8 weeks along and had 2 u/s with dr. Amelia wong. I was referred to her by the GP. But she hae now redirected me to queens Mary because we weren't decided upon which hospital to use for delivery. She was a bit annoyed that we didn't read up , wasnt expecting the reaction. Anyway now I am here to educated the options available. I live in tung chung and work in HK island.
And yes congratulations to all of you!

p.s: I have become so moody ......
 
Congratulations graayp14! What is your due date? Haha I've been more emotional than moody..could cry at the drop of a hat!
 
It's estimated to be 26-jan.
I too have become very emotional .......at one instance last week I was about to cry at work. I quickly got up from my desk and walked to bathroom.

Good know I am not behaving strange :)

Btw have you decided on which hospital- Pvt/public and any reco on ob/gyn would be very helpful.
 
No not strange at all!
We have decided to go private at the moment we are thinking the Matilda but need to double check with our health insurance before we kick anything in. I'm seeing dr Grace Cheung at central health. A friend of a friend used her too and so far she seems great
