Due April 2014

Very sad to hear of what happened Lilfish. Can totally empathize - we lost ours in June at 6 weeks too, it was simply devastating. But I told myself this was nature's way and that the one we had was just not ready. And now, we are expecting again (I guess what they say about being more fertile after a miscarriage is true). We saw the doc yesterday, heard the heartbeat at seven weeks. But this time, we are going slow with the news, tempering our happiness with caution, and just not taking anything for granted now, at least till the first trimester is over.
So, don't lose heart. The little one will come when he or she is ready!

Hi Lilfish
I had a similar situation to you- 6 week old sack with no embryo. So I will need a curette to help my body realise it isn't actually pregnant.
It's hard but I'm hoping for a healthy pregnancy like karthaly next time.
X

Jcg, you will have a healthy pregnancy in the not-so-distant future, I'm sure. Take care of yourself during the procedure, and your body will be more than ready again next time round!

Hi! I am also due in April 2014. Excited and also a little scared! I'd love to find other expectant mums in HK to chat to about everything... I have lovely friends here but none of them are pregnant! Becky

Congrats Becky,
I know exactly how you feel. I have my 12 week scan on Monday and I'm so nervous.
When is your due date? I'm April 11th.
Cat x

My wife is also due on April 11th and we will be doing her second scan on Monday as well! We are going through the public system at Queen E hospital. Yourself?

Hi Cat. My due date is 17th April so very close to yours. I have my 12 week scan on Thursday so I completely understand you feeling nervous. Good luck and please let me know how you get on on Monday. I'm sure that we'll both be fine. It takes a bit of getting used to, doesn't it?!

Hi everyone! I'm due April 25th and getting my 11 week scan on Thursday. I'm doing a mixture of public and private. I've registered for the free antenatal care at the maternity clinic in Wanchai but also seeing a private doctor for extra ultrasounds. Good luck with the rest of 1st trimester everyone!

Congratulations Cranlemon and Dasani!
I have used an obstetrician so far and he has recommended Matilda for delivery. We went and had a look round last week. Lucky that we have very good insurance coverage but still concerned about costs.
Becky - know what you mean about getting used to it. Although I had a scan at 6 + 4 and saw the heartbeat I still can't quite believe its real!
Excited about the scan tomorrow but will be so nervous!
Good luck with yours on Thurs x

HI ladies,
I am expecting my first one April 11th. Still feels a bit unreal but over the moon after 12week scan looked all ok.
Congrats to you all!

Congratulations Aco!
I had my 12 week on Monday - it was great. I was due on the 11th too but have been moved forward one day to the 10th.
Good luck tomorrow Becky - hope all goes well for you too :)

I went to Annerley today for an extra scan (I am 16 weeks now) to find out the sex of the baby. My baby didn't want to reveal herself/himself yet, even crossed her legs during the scan. She tried really hard, we had a 45mins scan but no success. Have to come back in a few days and try again ;-)

Congrats ladies. I'm heading for my 9th week scan this weekend. Really hoping that all'd be well. So far, feeling super exhausted - in the mornings, I can barely drag myself to work. Just want to be horizontal all the time! How are you beating the fatigue?

Cranlemon, may I check on the maternity clinic in Wan Chai you are going to? Is it the one at Southern? We live in Wan Chai but are registered with Tsan Yuk as it's supposed to be the feeder clinic for QMH. But if we can do the checks at Wan Chai, that's better, distance-wise.

Meanwhile, am supplementing with private visits. Went to a Dr Grace Ying Wong at Harbour City, who seems experienced if a little lacking in bedside manners.

Hi Kartaly,

I go to the Tai Chi Ngong Clinic in Wanchai on Queens Road East. It's quite efficient and the nurses are nice there, everyone speaks English. Link here

Family Health Service - Maternal and Child Health Centres

They don't do ultrasound but I did my preliminary blood and urine tests there and I have to go back in my 14th week for another checkup.

I'm still deciding between public and private. Our insurance will cover up to 60,000 of delivery costs. I checked with my private obstetrician who will charge 23,000 and I checked with HK Sanitarum which will charge 16,000 for a maternity package in a general ward. I thought this puts me well under my 60k cap but my obstetrician told me that it will be more like 80,000 because of "hidden costs" that add up from the hospital. Does anyone have any experience with this particularly at Sanitarium?

Hi yunamika,
I'm also due on the 10th April!

I'm definitely less nauseous and a little less tired but not feeling too bad. I am looking forward to getting an appetite back though!

How are you doing?

Cat x

Congratulations!
I'm hoping we can hold out and not find out but it's so difficult!
I'm jealous that you can prepare and start buying blue! X

Me too. From week 6 onwards, i was feeling nauseous all the time and could not eat at all. But now things are better. I eat normally but sometimes I do not feel well in the evening. Hope your appetite comes back soon! :)

Congrats!!! I can't wait to know the gender of my baby even though my husband wants a surprise and he doesn't want me to ask the obs.
