Hello Ladies,

I've been hearing rumors saying that drinking cow milk during pregnancy is bad for the baby??? They say it will develop some kind of allergy to baby when the baby is born. And i read other forums saying drinking cow milk is great for bones of the mother and the baby. Which one to trust? Currently, i've been hesitating on dairy products. I am on my 20th week and i've been drinking one glass of cow drink every morning since the past 4 months. Please help!!

Thanks,
Anita

I've never heard this -- but I also don't trust Chinese nurses who seem to just make up old wives tales about what to eat or not eat.
Anyway, I had milk, yogurt and all sorts of dairy through pregnancy -- and breastfeeding -- and had a healthy, hardy little girl.

i believe you actually need MORE calcium when you are pregnant as the baby leeches is from your own system.

American academy of pediatrics published a paper stating that there is no evidence linking maternal diet to allergies in the baby... There is even evidence out there showing protective effective of allergy when mother consumed nuts during pregnancy (but that's another story)

You baby needs calcium to build its bones when in your belly, if you don't have enough calcium then baby will draw the calcium from your bone as the body us designed so baby gets priority! If u don't drink milk then please replace with others calcium rich food or take supplement! Otherwise you will have lower bone mass after your pregnancy if u don't consume enough, which caring pointed out that you need more of during pregnancy

hard to say... it's all written in chinese... i think the vast majority of people on this forum are expats. but you may be able to find someone who can read it.

i would just like to say this: don't believe everything you read on Facebook! it isn't a proper "news source" do some googling and see what else you can find. speak to your doctor, see what he/she says.
