I know this is an old thread. But I really want to share my experience with everyone out there of Dr Steven Lo Yue Fan. I am another very very happy mom to have had Dr Lo be my Obgyn. I saw him when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. I wanted to attempt a VBAC (I had a c-sect for my first) and he was extremely supportive of me.
For my first child, I went to a doctor in central who is very popular among the expats here. The experience is so different. I ended up with a planned c-sect without any medical reasons with this doctor (which I very much regretted afterwards and were quite depressed over the whole experience). As a first time mom in a foreign country, I was very nervous and uncertain. This doctor never offered any information and assurance and never even discussed with me on delivery when I was already 36 weeks pregnant! He’s always rushed and seems impatient at times. He will only provide information when asked but still he will not elaborate much.
Dr Lo is so different. He’s been talking about delivery with me at every visit. He is very reassuring, offers me lots of information without asking. He’s super friendly and bubbly making me feel very relaxed throughout my pregnancy. He is also very detail in doing the ultrasound, take his time to check thoroughly and explaining the details and what we are seeing on the screen. For the other doctor that I saw, his ultrasound checks are very short and doesn't explain much except at the end of it “the baby is fine”. Dr. Lo was never rushed no matter how busy he is and how many patients of his are waiting.
When I delivered my 2nd child, my labour was not progressing well. As I had a uterine scar, induction medication can only be administered very carefully. Dr Lo was very very supportive and monitored my situation very closely. I was about to give up and head for another c-sect but Dr. Lo was very reassuring. He told me to wait (until midnight actually). Finally, I gave birth naturally after 13 hours. I believe in this situation, many other doctors would just recommend a c-sect. I’m so very grateful that Dr Lo did not give up on me and realized my wish to have a natural birth. He is indeed a highly competent obgyn who cares a lot for his patients and deeply respects the wishes of his patients.
With my deepest gratitude, I would highly recommend Dr Lo to every mom out there. He’s the best!
