hi there

have heard much of this doc being expensive BUT good. Anyone knows if he's pro BF?

If your child has a chest problem/infection Dr Tam is the go to guy. Don't know his opinions on breastfeeding, we've never needed to have that conversation.

thanks! We suspect our gal got ear infection...I heard he specializes in chest/cough so we're not sure. We r not very impressed with the PD we went to for bb's 3rd month checkup & vaccinations so we thot if dr Alfred tam is good (pro bf) we will switch and take bb to him for all future chkups & not just for infections.

The most probreastfeeding paediatrician I have found is Dr Thondup. He's also an excellent doctor, you may want to try him.

We see Dr. Tam and he is BF friendly in my opinion. I am still BF my second one at 10 months and everytime we see him, he commends me and said I am doing such a good job. Even when she had jaundice as a newborn and some nurses asked me to give her formula, Dr. Tam still encouraged me to continue breastfeeding.

I would say Dr. Tam is pro-BF. Our son was at the bottom end of the end of the weight charts for the first 6-9 months and although I expressed some concern, Dr. Tam kept emphasizing how lucky he was to be a breastfed baby and that the low weight was nothing to worry about. It definitely helped give me confidence to continue with BF. However, he isn't judgmental either way. I eventually switched to formula around 7 months (for work-related reasons) and when told Dr. Tam of my plan, he didn't try to dissuade me - which I liked since I wasn't made to feel at all guilty for switching!

My bub sees Dr. Alf Tam. I wanted to weaned her off breastmilk at 5 months (by giving her a bottle of formula for her dream feed) but he convinced me to continue breastsfeeding exclusively until she was past 6 months old. So, I would say that he is pro-bf. He kept emphasizing that breastmilk is the best food for her and said that she was a very lucky baby (re: elephantine).
What I like about Dr. Tam is that he is great with my bub (- she flirts with him!), has excellent bedside manners and does not give medicine unnecessarily. Very reassuring too!

It's great to know that Dr Tam is so probreastfeeding. As I say I've only seen him for chest infections, and found him to be an fantastic doctor. We've never really had the breastfeeding conversation.

We take our baby to see Dr Tam too and find him to be a fantastic doctor - very knowledgeable and has great bedside manner with the kid as well as the parents. But he is VERY expensive (when compared with other peds) and to be very frank, although we find him very good, for the odd cough or cold, we would only go to him because we have medical insurance, otherwise, I think he's way too expensive for the amount he charges us for the common cold. If it's somthing more serious, of course, then you should try him out as health is more important than money. So if you plan to take your bub to him in the future, it will save you alot of bucks if you have medical insurance covering his costs.
