Domestic Helper- Full-Time Live-Out

Hello,
Has anyone "heard" what the going rate is for a full-time live-out helper?

Does anyone have any comments on the pros/ cons of having a live out helper?

Please feel free to PM with your comments. Thanks!

biggest con of a live-out helper is that if they are foreigners on a domestic helper visa it is illegal.

In the days when it was legal for a FDH to live-out, the rate was the basic salary (currently $3,440) + cost of lodgings, which is roughly $1,500/month.
Whether or not a local person would accept this salary is another question.
Another way of calculating would be to take the hourly rate of $50-60and multiply by the total no of hours you'd be asking the DH to work.

Sorry, can't comment on pros/cons; I hired my FDH after the rules changed and it was illegal to have them live-out.

Most of the ones I've interviewed have been seeking between $5000 and $6,500 per month. If they are on a dependent visa or local it is legal. However there aren't any agencies so it's trickier to find one. You can try posting a wanted ad on geoexpat or dollarsaver, but make sure you make it very clear in the ad if you have visa requirements - everyone and their dog will contact you!
