MY son snored loudly as a baby and still does, now 2 years old, and has alwyas been a mouth breather, even as a baby. My pediatrician did not say anything about asthma, (he has no asthma, eczema, or allergy or any family history either)but did send for an xray of the adenoids, which were enlarged, so then we were sent to an ENT, we saw him about a month ago and he said that most children this age will have enlarged adenoids as they are constantly fighting of infection and that in itself was not a concern, and they don't remove the adenoids and tonsils so much today as when I was a kid, but if the child is symptomaptic then they will remove them. Symptomatic meaning he has sleep apnea.S o now we are on a waitlist for a sleep apnea study, which we can do at home thankfully. He said they also look at how much the child is sleeping and if they are still napping really long ( a sign of sleep apnea). My son does nap a good 2 hours/day still, and would go longer if I let him but I have to wake him up other wise his bedtime is loo late. As it is he sleep about 12 hours at night and wakes a few times/week. He never slept as good as my first but I always assumed it was because with 2 kids I couldn't be quite as structured with sleep routine as I was the first time. That is my experience with snoring.
