Does the Downs Syndrome test at Tsan Yuk include a scan?

I have an appointment for the test at 13 weeks, but no mention of an ultrasound until 21 weeks. A lot of comments on here have mentioned an ultrasound at 12 weeks, but the most recent one I can find is from 2010.

Any advice appreciated, thank you!

Yup, it definitely includes a scan. They measure the fluid around the baby's brain - called a nuchal translucency scan or something! Anyway, a lovely opportunity to see the little one early on :)

Yes, you will need to take the test before 14 weeks, otherwise the scan will not be as accurate. They also take a Bloodtest.
The next big scan is at aprox 20 weeks also at Tsan Yuk.
Good luck!

Does anyone know what the blood test at 12 weeks included in Tsun Yak, please? I am really confused over the options. Understand the private hospitals and clinics offer "Safe T2" and or "Harmony" which are blood tests measuring chromosome presence and indicating possible anomality. These are more expensive but to compare I would love to know what the Tsan Yuk test offers? Anyone?

Thankful first time pregnant at 40.

The blood tests at Tsan Yuk check for the usual - Rh factor, rubella, HIV etc. Besides this, they also test PAPP-A and hCG levels. Both these along with the nuchal scan will be used to determine the risk for downs syndrome. I believe having a certain than higher level of the protein PAPP-A means higher risk. All this will be done using the blood samples taken around week 12

Thank you, Revesi for that reply, very useful! I have decided to do a T21 scan, which obviously cost some, but seems to give a good clear fair result. Found that the Adventis hospital does it. I just really wish to avoid doing any invasive testing.

Kind regards.
H.
