Hi all, does anyone know if there's any legal guidelines for job applicants to disclose whether they are pregnant or not during an interview process? Is there a legal #weeks you have to disclose?

I'm 12 weeks and can still hide... I think one of the jobs I'm thinking of going for will have interviews taking place anywhere between my 13-16 weeks... (no idea how big I'll be then).

No idea about HK legal sys so any experience / knowledge much appreciated!

Hi

I'm not sure whether or not you need to legally let them know. However, I know in some places (my company too) you must work for them for 10 months before you can receive any maternity benefit.. which is 10 weeks paid leave. I changed jobs when I was around 12-13 weeks pregnant too I just told my employer straight up and she had no problems with it. Though I did go on unpaid maternity.

Although it may depend on what field of work you are looking for.

From my understanding, you do not need to disclose that you're pregnant nor can you be discriminated for being pregnant. But I would be upfront and hopefully the employer will appreciate your honesty. If you tell them after, it may just create a stressful work environment for you and baby.
