My kid is 3.5 yr old, prepare to apply for reception year in some int. schools. But I'll tell the the truth anyways.
Any thoughts?

why would it affect your application? this is the 21st century.... more than 50% of marriages end in divorce, your child will not be much different than many of the other kids in the class.

lying on an application is NEVER a good idea... besides, what would that teach your child? that you are ashamed? that lying is ok? anything to get ahead is ok?

not really lessons i would want my child to learn...

I don't think it should affect your application either. Divorce is higher than before and your child will not be alone. Plus teachers/staff are not immune to divorce either. :)

Yes, Thanks Carang n Rani. If the school or teacher doesn't hv the same moral as the parents, that wasn't a good choice too. =)

i'm not talking about the reasons... i'm talking about the divorce itself. i don't think it has to do with morals to decide that two people really should not be married anymore.

divorce is not a four-letter word anymore, if you know what i mean.

The divorce rate in Hong Kong is not 50% it is much lower than that, last figures between 2001-2006 was ~17-34%. That aside, I agree with the other posters lying will only set a poor example for your child and the likelihood is you will be discovered anyway.

Carang I only know because I attended a sociology talk at HKU which quoted the figures. China statistics mentioned too and much lower than that.

i wonder what the figure would be for expats in hk.... hmmm.... now you've piqued my interest....
