Did you take prenatal classes?

Did you take prenatal classes? If so what did you like/not like about them. I am starting to teach prenatal class in my community, and would like to hear what people got out of them, or found lacking.

Yes, both times. Great for meeting people, but thought there was a bit too much 'sharing' in the early sessions. Later on, fine, but was not very comfortable discussing hopes and fears with a room full of strangers.

Useful topics included; signs of labour, stages, pain-relief options, potential complications, breastfeeding, what to expect afterwards. The session on relaxation techniques was also useful.

Did a refresher before my second which was great, again for meeting people, but also for comparing notes on the reality versus theory. It was amazing how many of us were so much less idealistic second time around. Also useful were tips on preparing the first child for the 'onslaught' of a sibling, as well as ideas on how to reschedule your life to fit in a second child.

I didn't attend any pre-natal class. I had three other friends who gave birth spread out over a year before I did. So, everything I needed to know, if not learnt from discussions boards on the internet/ websites, I learnt from talking to my friends. Everything else i needed to know I found out from Mothersgroup in Oz.

We went, but in the US. Great for calming all those underlying fears. Also good for eliminating all those pictures of TV/movie show births floating around your head.
We went to (among others) breastfeeding class and baby CPR, both of which were helpful.

Tutorial :)

1st baby - I couldn't make it to the classes organized by my OB (way over on HK Island) so my husband and I took some "tutorials" from a freelance midwife recommended by my OB.

She was helpful and nice.

2nd baby, didn't bother w/ classes.
