Desperately seeking a tailor

Anyone know a good tailor for western clothes? Should be able to speak/understand English. Not too pricey. Also where in Hong Kong can I purchase fabric (am looking for trouser material) at a reasonable price? Ideally I would have made a trip to Shenzhen but am not in a position to do so at the moment.

Have you been to Western Market? There are a few fabric stores there. You can try the tailors in World Wide House. I've heard there are SZ tailors who come to HK every couple of weeks. They'll measure you and take yr fabric. Not sure how the fitting works. Anyone have any names?

just read on ShopinSZ there's a tailor called Tony that comes to HK. His number is 9452 1382.

Here's the name of another tailor that comes from SZ.

Ms Yeung Tel - 5582323529 and 5526151385.

Do let us know how it goes.

Hi Rani,

The number you gave for Ms Yeung, is it a SZ number? If it is, the area code for SZ should be 755 i/o 55. And of course 86 for China.

If you have the time, I'd really recomend going to SZ. Half of the fun is picking out the facric. There is sooooo much great fabric to choose from. Lots of the taylors will take you around and help you select appropriate fabric. If you don't have the time, Rani's suggestion is a great one.

Hi all

I wonder how everyone went with getting their maternity clothes made in Shenzhen or in HK and whether they could recommend their tailors and tell me the price.

That seems amazing to get a shirt made for $40 including material. Was that $40 HK?

Can i draw a picture and ask them to make something up from that or is it too risky to do it this way?
:crib
Also, where did you buy the US maternity clothes that you wanted copied?

Hi Tutor,

Another member recommended a tailor called Molly on the 5th floor.
I tried her a couple of weeks ago and she did a fantastic job copying the shirts I gave her. She charges HK$50 for stitching. Material is around HK$20-30/meter. She accompanied me to the the fabric section and helped me select the correct fabrics and even bargained for me.
I'm sure she can copy a style from a book/magazine.

When I was pregnant, my husband was going to the US and I bought online from Old Navy and Gap and had it shipped to his hotel.

Molly is at 5072.
