Dermatologist or Pediatrician for skin problems

My little one has skin rashes for a while, it was first suspected as herpes but then after a wk of treatment which doesn't work well, diagnoised as folliculities. It's much better now after a course of antibiotics but it still comes and goes with a spot here and there.

Does anyone have the similar experience? What shall I do or not do to avoid the recurring spots?

Shall I take her to a dermatologist? Can anyone give a recommendation? Or shall I stick to a pediatrician? If so, which one is good dealing with skin problems?

How old is your little one? Both of mine had a rash at about 2 months old. With both children the rash cleared up by itself after a couple of weeks. The paediatrician said it's just one of those things that babies get, nobody can explain why?

My little one is 3 yrs old. It dragged on for almost 2 months now. They were worst a month ago before the antibiotics. Does your child's spot has puss like a pimple?

Some of the spots were like that. They were only on their faces. I think that my children's were caused by the heat (a sweat rash), though if your little one is 3 years old, I'm not sure it's going to be the same thing, as I said both of mine got the rash when they were babies. I was quite paranoid about the rash, especially my son's, who is the eldest. I used to study a patch of the spots for days to see if I could see any changes. It took alot of medical people (a midwife, nurses, my own GP and a consultant paediatrician) to convince me that the rash would go and I wasn't really convinced until it started to disappear. As I say this was my first child and I was worried about everything when he was tiny. If I was confronted with a rash on my son now (he's 2 and half), I think I would take him to see the paediatrician and then see if they wanted to refer him to a dermatologist. But that's only a personal opinion.My experience with our paediatrician, is if she's not sure then she'll refer to a specialist. We see Dr Ou. I hope that helps,
