Hi

Does anyone know if there is such services in HK - Delivery of daily home cooked food to residence house? I be moving to HK soon with 2 kids and worried that I might not have time for cooking. So wondering if there is such services in HK whereby food caterer deliver home-cooked food to your house.

Thanks,

Felicia

hi Chubbysan,

Being a Singaporean as well, I know perfectly what you meant by home delivery of cooked lunch and dinners.

Sad to inform you that there is no such services in HK.. as I have searched high and low for such services when I first arrived in HK as well.

It may be best to employ a full time helper here to do the cooking and the washing...I cannot imagine life with a kid and no helper.

There are several companies that will deliver cooked food from restaurants, e.g. food by fone (as mentioned by Rani) and also Dial a Dinner and Cuisine Courier.
You can get their contact details from yellow pages/1081 and they will send you a book of dishes that they deliver.
There is also, I believe, a new company that delivers home made soup (sorry can't remember the name).
If you speak Cantonese or have a friend that does many local restaurants will also deliver cooked good if in the immediate vicinity.

There is also a healthy food store on the escalator in soho, I think it's called eat right. They have a service where a dietician assesses your goals (lose weight, gain weight, more nutrition etc) and then plans a menu for you. They then cook and deliver all your meals.

Hi,

I came from Sg too and we don't have that kind of service here.

I don't like to order restaurant food everyday, so i look for a part time helper to come to my house for one hour a day to prepare the meal, she goes to the market/grocery before coming to my place. Cook, wash the pots then off she goes.

Any suggestions for how to find a part time helper for a few times a week? How much is the cost/hr?

Thanks.

hi Jaetee,

you could get part time cleaners legally OR illegally - illegally would be full timer domestic helpers doing a part time job....legally would be going through a licensed agency like Merry Maids : http://www.merrymaids.com.hk/
I use Merry Maids when my maid goes on her annual leave and they are reasonably good (only about 10-15% more expensive than the market rate of a domestic helper doing it part time) esp if you manage to get the same cleaner for the period you need them.

Good luck!

Can someone please post the current hourly rates for (1) part-time cleaners and (2) part-time cooks? Also, are there any minimum number of hours they must be employed for or is it negotiable?
