Delivery and doctor charges

Hello. Could you please guide about the charges that I need to expect for delivery in Private hospital. We have chosen St. Paul's hospital and they have quite reasonable charges for rooms in the 'package'. However, I heard that there are additional charges to a doctor about the same price like as for hospital room package. Is that common in Hong Kong that I have to pay for delivery package and + doctor delivery fee? (For example Is there the same system in public hospitals?

Hi Ann,

Here's a list of the private hospital charges

Private Hospital Maternity Packages in Hong Kong 2015 - Hong Kong GeoBaby

The maternity packages don't include the Drs fees. Your OBGYN and Anaesthetist. These fees increase if you select a private room vs a ward bed. Also doesn't include epidural.

Public hospitals have packages for their private rooms. If you select to go the public route and stay in the ward expect to pay less than $500 for the entire delivery.

Have a read through this article

Hi Rani, thank you for feedback. Could you please guide if I go through the public system , which hospital is better with English speaking staff and normal delivery. I worry also if I have dependent visa, non-permanent Hkid - am I generally eligible?

What is the difference between shared antenatal care and hospitals with antenatal services? I'm currently living in ma wan, the nearest I guess is tsing yi mchc but there is princess margarette hospital in the same line ...

Princess Margaret is where you will deliver and the majority of the prenatal appts will take place at Tsing Yi.

Hi Rani

With regards to your reply shown below, I am trying to understand the total cost at Matilda if I have a pre booked c section in standard room. Do you mean I have the package Matilda cost plus my obstetrician who will deliver? You mention doctor as well, can I please clarify which doctor this would be? Sorry I'm confused!

Teenytiny, yes the package doesn't include your OBGYN (Dr) fee.

For a c-section the Drs use a local Anaesthetic it should be included in the package price but the anesthesiologist fees may not be included. Double check with the hospital.

A Paediatrician is usually called to examine your newborn, and make sure all is ok. Administer the first vaccines. The Paeds normally offer packages around $4-6K.
