Delayed cord clamping QMH

Has anyone requested delayed cord clamping at QMH or any other public hospitals? Is it entertained? What is standard procedure, generally speaking?

Think you need to add it to your birth plan and discuss with the Dr when you go over it.

Thanks Rani! I was under the impression that I would be giving birth with midwives and doctors only make an appearance if something goes wrong. Is that not the case?

This is great news!

Follow up question - what things are actually worth putting in a birth plan for QMH? Do I have 'options' that aren't standard practice? eg: Do I need to ask for baby to stay with me or will that just happen?

I don't want to rock up like some entitled expat to be laughed out of the room for asking for whale music! hehe

Hi Baby bubbles -
I recommend using the QMH template for your birth plan since the nurses & midwives are use to seeing this format. Just google queen mary birth plan and you can download a copy in English from the website. The form has check boxes for the standard options. You can also add other requests at the end. You don't need to ask for baby to stay with you after birth as that is standard practice. There are CD players in the delivery rooms so you should be able to listen to your whale music. :) Not to say they won't laugh at the request.... hehe
