How do o buy debentures for a school? Some schools mention it on their website but could someone please elucidate me as to how the actual process works and when would you have to buy it? Prior to actually applying to the school?

Haven't done it but my understanding is that you wouldn't buy a personal debenture unless you were given a place so you apply first. However your or your husband's company may hold debentures for certain schools for their staff so they would already exist, you'd need to find out from your employers if they have.

Deffo submit the applications first and worry about that later though assuming it's affordable for you overall.

jvn is correct - you only buy personal debentures once you have been offered and accepted a place. Corporate debentures are held by employers (they normally have a set number at a particular school or schools) which they can allocate to your family which then gives you priority on any waiting lists. The nature of the priority varies from school to school depending on how their waiting list works, you can find this out on their websites or by calling the admissions section of the schools you are considering.
