daughter's schooling..please help

Hi all,

my daughter will turn 2 in november and we live in tung chung.

when we moved to HK in march, i thought that i would admit her to school when she turns 3 next year. but seems that HK has different norm. Can you please tell me that what % of expats (roughly) send their kids to school before 3? how common it is?

if, instead, i send her directly to k1 at 3, whats she expected to know beforehand? will she really miss anything ? i plan to send to some play group in our club house (informal kids play sessions) . The so called english kindergartens are expensive and I dont want to start it before the average kids goes to school back home (at 3) unless its something very common in HK

finally, out of Sun Island (cs) or greenfield(cc), which one do you prefer? can someone share his/her experience with these ? how much is the fee for these.

we just started sending our daughter to school when she turned two. but she was ready. on the first day she didn't even cry and was ok w/ me leaving (even tho i could stay w/ her the first month.) by day 3 we were just dropping her off.

ppl come and go from hk so often, so i don't think you need to worry about what everyone else is doing. they adapt so fast. do what you think is right for you and your child.
 
i didn't send my boy to school until he was 3.5 yrs. i wouldn't have sent him until he was closer to 4.5 (like where i'm from) except we moved to an area with few children and i really wanted him to be around kids. also, i really wanted him to become more comfortable using cantonese (he understands, but choses english)...

he cried for 3 days, then was fine. now he loves it!

it seems that she will not really "miss" anything if she starts at 3

now bacxk to the age old question.

Greenfield or Sun Island in Tung Chung. any comments ? Any experiences please
 
Neither!

But that's just my opinion, I have friends who send their kids to Greenfield and they like it. I don't think there is much choice in TC but I think Greenfield is probably the best of the bunch.
