Crib mattresses

Hi there,

Anyone with experience with Ikea's crib mattresses? Pros? cons? We're going this weekend to purchase the cot and the mattress. Thanks!
 
I have one and I find it to be a little on the soft side, I don't remember which one I actually purchased as there are maybe 4-5 choices... We didnt buy the most expensive one... You can test up the mattress at the store as they have small size cut out samples of them
 
Just don't buy the least expensive mattress from Ikea. That one is only 5cm thick. Go with the 8cm or 10cm foam ones. The spring ones will be firmer (and more expensive)

They also have a mattress pad which is nice. Seems more comfortable with it than not. But certainly, it's not necessary. So check it out and decide on your own.

I think it is fine. We brought the most expensive sprung one, as the climate here is hot and humid and our child sweats easily. More comfortable nights were worth the extra few hundred dollars.
 
Thanks for the advice. We are currently located in Shenzhen area and the Ikea didn't have anymore of the spring mattress in stock. But we're set on it now.

What is the purpose of the mattress protector? For spit up and stuff? thanks JayJay.
 
Thanks for the advice. Given the feedback we feel much safer getting a mattress from Ikea. And @jayjay thanks for the advice on the mattress protector. Though, what is the purpose? To protect form spit up and such? Excuse the newbie questions...
 
The mattress pad helps absorb anything - sweat, saliva, vomit, split drinks or worse... and you can take off and wash easily. We got one of those too.
