Hello mommies, I am a new mom with 6 months old baby. I want to ask if anyone knows a place where I can leave my baby if I want to take a break and have a little bit of time for myself e.g if I want to go shopping/ fix my hair etc.. Is there any place that is safe, friendly, affordable and that I can trust with. Thanks!

nothing like this exists in hk as most/many people have live-in helpers. there are a couple of day cares run by the gov't, but they target the local, low-income families. they have long waiting lists and are not for "casual" drop offs. they are for working parents that need to leave the kids everyday.

there is RENT-A-MUM that can provide in-home babysitting services, but they, too, are quite expensive.

my suggestion? consider hiring a full-time helper who can cook, clean and take care of your baby whenever you need it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I think we don't need a full time helper because I already decided to look after my child by myself and my husband doesn't like to hire either for private reasons. Im totally disappointed but I can still look for other options. Again thank you very much, I am glad that I've found this helpful website, it is very informative!

Angelicaxx,
Do you have any friends who are stay-at-home mums and would be willing to look after your baby for a few hours from time to time? You could do the same for them and look after their kids from time to time.

I would be very keen to have such an arrangement, but since I'm only expecting my first baby in the next few weeks, I'm only up for it in a couple of months.
And congrats for not hiring a full-time helper! We also only have someone to clean the apartment once a week, as I want to look after my baby by myself. Honestly, I wouldn't know what a full-time helper would do at our place the entire day and I don't want to have someone around all the time. But I agree, it's a shame that no such thing as an infant care center exists.

Hi,
You can get into this link :
http://www.hkspc.org/php/webcms_en/public/mainpage/ch_main.php3?refid=3

They are under the hk society for the protection of children and offer needs of to place their children temporary in their centres to avoid children being left unattended at home.

The general perception of their service was to cater to the lower income group BUT it was totally the opposite. Their centers are professionally managed by certified psychologists and baby specialists and it costs almost $5xxx a month..! Well..there are subsidiaries for the unaffordable group too. Check them out. I tried their services and find them very good , with the limited choices out there.
