Coughing in the morning?

My 2 years and half son coughs when he wakes up in the morning, i have cleaned all things in his room, curtains, toys, sheets change regularly, new mattress, but still 2-3 coughs per morning. What do you think? i've brought him to doctor but lungs are cleared. We don't have air purifier.

DDb does this also and we are not as vigilant as you. I used to worry about it but someone said it is just how they clear their heads in the morning - like a little hayfever. After breakfast she is fine so I stopped worrying about.

Could be a dust mite allergy. This was happening with our son and we did an allergy test that showed his sensitivity to dust mites had increased by 50% within the last 6 months. A dust mite protector for his mattress has sorted out the problem - just thought I'd mention in case helpful for you.

Thanks for your replies.....his bed is anti-dust mite, wonder if it works for how long. Let me check it out.

It could be the pollution levels in Hong Kong...the pollution can irritate the lining of the lungs--and at night and in the morning are the times when people who have problems with it tend to be bothered most. I also have coughing fits in the morning. Because as I'm lying in bed at night all of the "gunk" from the previous day of breathing dirt and pollution into my lungs starts to sort of settle and in the morning when I get up it irritates me.
