We pay ours HK 1500 for boarding house, 800 for food, 300 for transport, so 2600 total. This is separate from her salary.
Plus, we sometimes share dinner with her or give her any extra food we have -- but we also want to make sure she has enough to buy her own breakfasts, lunches, and sometimes dinner.
She eats breakfast at her own place and comes to work at 9:30 am. She either packs her own lunch, or takes a mid-day break to the mall to eat. She's generally out of here by 7-8 pm, and prefers to eat dinner at home -- though she will take some of our food in a Tupperwear container if it's offered to her.
She shares a two-bedroom small flat, with a shared kitchenette, with 2 or 3 others.
We want her to live in a decent place, so we've told her that if she needs more, she can always come to us. But she told us she is happy with this place. That 1500 covers her share of the rent, plus utilities, etc.
This is in Kowloon.
