Cost for Delivery at Matilda

Hi,

Please can someone let me know how much the final bill might come to at the Matilda??

I am booked in with Dr Dawkins.
I've seen the basic price list, but I am now hearing that there will be multiple extras, and that costs incurred by any complication will hike the bill up to something astronomical.
I have insurance, but there is a cap.

Anyone who's delivered at the Matilda, can you let me know what it cost?

Thanks!!

I'm really curious as well! (I'm scheduled to deliver at the Matilda in March and I'm with Dr. Philip Ho.)

I know in past posts asking for similar info, you will be pointed to an older thread that lists all the related costs but it's dated from 2003 and it would be nice to hear from someone who has recently paid the bill (as there will be many changes, including adjustments for inflation etc.)

Would someone who has recently delivered a baby in Matilda be willing to do a cost-breakdown for us based on current experience? Thanks!!

My sister gave me her recent breakdown- natural vaginal delivery in November at Matilda with an epidural, stayed 4 nights due to first night needing an induction (1 week overdue)

Dr Ho's fee $36 000
Anaesthetist fee $9000
Peads $6000
lab fee $560
ward procedure? $3980- think this was the induction part

drugs $196
epidural $4500
Hospital package $35 500

also one nights stay for the induction $850

Total hospital charges came to $96 586

Good job she had full insurance coverage, but Dr Ho did estimate the cost as $150 000 if emergency c section was needed. She also stayed in a private room.

Hope this helps

We worked up the costs for Matilda, private room (ob office gave us a book) and we came up with that same HK$100,000.

If you deliver on a Sunday like I did, add another 30% to your bill for the Anesthetist/Dr

Wow! I thought the almost 40K total that we paid in 1996 was insane.

That's why I went to the public hospital second time around.

100K is almost two years of primary school fees at an ESF school.

That would be bad. So I guess a C-section on a Sunday would be about the worst.
Just have to add to the Dr and anesthetist bill? So, in the previous example, the $45,000 for those two services would become $58,500? Or is the whole $100,000 subject to that 30% surcharge.
And having a Sunday surcharge is ridiculous. It isn't like most hospital visits can be scheduled around Sunday. Somebody has to be on call on Sunday and they should not be paid extra for it.
