Clomid- should I try it?

Hi, I just wanted a bit of advice. We have been TTC of a year now and were due to go to the Women's clinic in Central for tests but I have been reading lots about Clomid to boost fertility and wondered if that is something you can just get from a regular doctor in Hong Kong or do you need to see a specialist? I was thinking about trying it first before going to the clinic (as it's a bit pricy and this will probably be their first suggestion anyway!). Anyone used it? TIA
