Cleaning baby toys

What can I use to wash baby toys? Is dettol safe to use for toys my baby will frequently put in his mouth? Also how do I wash the plush toys that say "surface washable only"?

A friend of ours uses veggie wash to clean the toys. It makes sense, I guess, as if it's "safe" enough to wash food (which goes into the mouth), it should be safe enough to wash toys...? A bit expensive, though.

We handwash the plush toys and they come put fine; and we use milton sterilising wipes for the other toys. You can buy milton spray in other countries but I haven't seen it here. The wipes are available in B2B.

We spray and wipe with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and distilled water, with a couple drops of Dr. Brommer's and a few drops of Sweet Orange EO and Tea Tree EO.

I used dish washing liquid or laundry soap. Also, re toys that say "surface wash only", if they were stuffed toys I would still put them in the wahsing machine on the "hand wash" cycle and then make sure they were removed as soon as the cycle was finished and brushed over with my hand (to put back in shape) and then put somewhere to dry. We never 'lost' any toys this way, although DH put her favourite in the machine, not on handwash and left it - suffice to say that Yellow Meow never looked the same again. DD didn't care though.
