Circumcision at Queen Mary

I don't want to turn this into a discussion on the pros and cons about circumcision, as I am still thinking about it right now.

However I would like to know whether circumcisions can be done at Queen Mary or any public hospital.

I inquired briefly during my recent visit/checkup at the local MCHC and got a rather vague answer, and I am not sure they fully understood my question. I am not sure whether what the staff meant was that being an elective surgery, it is not offered free of charge at public hospitals, or that it is not offered at all.

I read on several older threads on this site that it is possible to go through the public system to do this. Can anyone tell me if it can or can't be done and how to set this up for soon after the baby is born, should I decide to go ahead?

Thanks in advance.

I think it's only offered when medically necessary. A friend's son had a recurring infection and did it at Pamela Youde.

Most members have it done privately at the Matilda. Recommended Drs are Ruilin Fong, Angela Lau, Ken Chan.

One member has used the Specialists clinic. It's done at the clinic and its not as costly and she noticed a faster recovery compared to her first son (at the hospital).

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Do you have a link to the thread where the member said she'd used the Specialists Clinic? I thought I'd read them all but I guess I must have missed that one.

Sorry I couldn't find it either, but remember reading it and had bookmarked the clinic.
