Cigar or Ginger Vinegar Gift Card

I recall for western culture if a boy is born will give out cigar and not sure for girl.

But for Chinese community we give out Ginger Vinegar and nowadays so good to buy gift card to friends, co-worker or even neighborhood without having it reboil at home.

What is the normal practice now?

I'm definitely not an expert (I'm Chinese am pretty Americanized). My mom who also lives here in HK says it is acceptable practice these days to hand out the Ginger-Vinegar gift cards, instead of lugging the jars around handing them out to people. Much more practical!

That is my intention to buy "Ginger-Vinegar gift cards" and distribute with baby pic like a greeting card with something in return to enjoy
