christmas baking exchange?

when i was a kid, my mum and her friends always did a christmas baking exchange.

they counted how many people were interested, then they each made one treat. they made however many dozen there were people taking part.

then they'd all get together and exchange, so, we'd end up with 15 dozen different treats....

anyone interested in doing this (say, early-mid-december)??

what i'll do is wait until we see how many people are interested, then we can all choose one or two things to make (that way you're not buying ingredients for 20 different treats!).... we can make a list so that we know what we are getting. and if anyone has allergies they can make that known.

great! rani, is there any way you can make this sticky for a couple of weeks to see how many people are interested? also, it won't get "lost" in the busy-ness of your great site...

thanks!

I'm definitely interested!

I'll make caramel or 'millionaires' shortbread. This is NOT a treat for young kids though -- more so for the mummies hehehe

I can make banana bread instead if this is more kid - centred. As I see it..it's Christmas, bring on the fat pants :P

Great idea Cara! We bake about 12-15 different Christmas cookies from mid-Nov all the way through the third week of Christmas for our annual Christmas Day party.

Would love to swap cookies! We offer German and Australian (Donna Hay) Christmas cookies! And sticky date pudding swaps!

Count us in.

cookies/squares/rolls can be either kid-centred or not... up to you...

i'm thinking "cathedral windows" from us... that's multi-coloured marshmallows rolled together in chocolate, with coconut on the outside then sliced... VERY sweet, but VERY yummy!

like i said, when we know exactly how many people want to commit to this, then we can make a list to make sure we don't overlap.

i, too, love to bake as do my kids... this could be LOADS of fun!

yeah, i'm thinking... i'm NEVER going to lose the weight i need to with the sounds of this... MMMMMMMMM..... i'm salivating already just thinking about this!

great idea cara!!!

i'm not a good baker but have a couple of (healthy)specialties. If it's first or second week of december, count me in as we'll be away for vacation on the third week.

thanks.

i think it should be the first or second week... if we have enough interest, we could even do it two weeks in a row...that would certainly give enough baking for entertaining guests over the holidays!

Love your idea carang :D
Please count us in, i can do mini swiss rolls (logcakes) or pineapple tartlets.

We're in as well. I'd love to do pecan bars, but if too many people have nut allergies I'll choose something else.
