Christian mums - catch up and study

Hi,

I was just wondering if there are any Christian mums who would like to met up and start a bible study group. I have access to a bunch of good bible study materials. I haven't really thought though the logistics like when or where but I am open to ideas. I thought it might be nice to sit around and learn more about Jesus and of course talk about our kids as well.

I have joined a church in Hong Kong but I miss the weekly bible study catch up with mums that I had in Australia.

A bit about me - I have been in Hong Kong for 2 months now and I have two daughters 2.5 year old and 9 months.

Any mums that read this message that aren't yet Christians but want to know more are of course more than welcome!!!!

God bless

Sarah

Hi there,

I would like to join. It's been a long time since I join any bible study, about 6-7 years. I'm currently only attending a Sunday service. I'm a new stay-home mom and feeling quite bored sometimes. I have a baby gal who just turned 9-months yesterday.

Let me know when you have something planned!

Hi,
I saw the messages about your bible study group and am just wondering if anyone know of a bilingual or cantonese church in Ma On Shan, Tseung Kwan O or Kowloon Bay that can accomodate toddlers, i.e., have a separate room/area for parents with young children. I live in Sai Kung town and the local churches here are very small. I took my 2 year old to the Sunday service there a few times and he just couldn't sit still and kept running around and talking very loudly. I felt so embarassed!

HI Sarah and other Moms

Great to know a bible study is available for Moms expectants. My due date will be this October so I am so eager to join it. I got a 11 months old boy so I hope to spare some time to share with other Moms as well. I am living at Kowloon Tong near Festival Walk so just wish to know any availability for my joining?

God Bless

Chris

Hi - I am a stay-at-home mum with a 4 month old baby boy.
We live in Happy Valley and both my husband & I are Malaysian Chinese and have been in HK for 6 years now.
I would love to join you guys for the bible study - so, do keep me informed when the group is formed...

Kiwi Mum

Hi there!

I am keen. It might be a little difficult for me at the moment - no helper and live out in the woops. Have been here 2 months with 3 year and 10 month old boys. Realise will need to travel to meet group but that's the price you pay for living in such a nice area as Tai Po! Keep me informed so that I can look at it when we get some help on board.....

Hi there

Pls count me in too.... I'm interested in joining your bible study. I have 2 kids under 3yrs. Pls let me know on any updates. Thx

Its great to see all of you interested in a bible study!. I was thinking there are two options for us:

Option One:
Option One involves us meeting without our bubs so we can do a more in-depth study. This option would work well for mums with helpers. It seems we are located all over. I thought we could alternate between HK Island and Kowloon. I thought two mums could offer their homes for the study. I would be happy to offer the HK Island home.

Option Two:
Option two involves us meeting at a child friendly place with our children. I thought instead of an in-depth study we could choose a Christian book on parenting etc. We could read a chapter a week and talk about it when we meet. This way we can still involve Jesus in our discussions but its in a informal way that we can do while looking after our children.

There are probably some other options as well. I am open to ideas. I am also happy to run with both options depending on what suits people.
Let me know your thoughts

Hi Sarah

I agree that an in-depth study won't happen with the kids around! While I would love the opportunity to get into some real bible stuff I am hoping to find a home group (when we find a church) and that might cater for that aspect. I think your idea on looking at christian based parenting books is a great idea. It would certainly allow us to meet as mums and talk about the issues that we face as mums. Besides, if there is one thing I know for sure - we are all mums of young kids - try stop us talking about them!

Thanks

Fiona

PS Happy to host for those who are adventerous enough to trek out my way....

Hi Hwee

Great to know that you are also living somewhere in Kowloon Tong. I am living in Parc Oasis, just 10 mins walk from Festival Walk. If you need to know anything about HK or others, you are welcome to give me a call.

Hi all

Appreciated with Sarah's ideas about having 2 options. I would prefer the 2nd one as well because Christian parenting could be an art to learn and put it into practices in our daily lives.

I'm also interested. I am a working mum and my office is in Hong Kong island. Please let me know when you get something finalized.
Looking forward to meeting and fellowshipping with you.

Two dates

Hi,

I propose the following dates and places for our first catch up. I have noticed that people seem to be located all over so I thought maybe there could be two catch ups - unless people are keen to travel????

Kowloon Side
Day: Thursday 29th June
Time: 11am
Place: Suggestions??? Fee's house???

Hong Kong Island
Day: Monday 3rd July
Time: 11am
Place: My house

I thought we would meet first and I will propose a couple of books to read. We can then decide on the book and I will purchase a copy for those wishing to continue on.

Can you please send me a private message to let me know which one you would like to attend.

I look forward to the first catch up

Sarah

First Catch up

Hi Sarah

Agreed with your suggestion. I am available on 29th but travelling to Tai Po will be a bit hard for me at the moment. Depending on how many Moms in Kowloon side could join, my home can also open for a small group (only). I am living in Kowloon Tong, 10 mins walk from MTR/KCR.

Hi fireblue et al,

So good to meet you online. I'm also a working mom with a 14 month old gal. My office is in Central. Any other working moms out there interested in getting together?

I like Sarah's idea about studying a book on Christian parenting, and at the same time have fellowship, but can't possibly join. Would love to get together either as a day time moms' group near my office, or as an evening fellowship type of meeting on HK Island. Dads are welcome too. In fact, parenting is a couple thing, not just a mom thing.

Any interests?

I am very interested

my name is also Sara (no H) I have 6 children whom I homeschool I have been thinking I would love to get involved in a study again, count me in, I don't drive but I love the mass transit! I have only been here since April 1. Kepp me posted
Oh and I would like either options.
Sara
