Christening

I would truly appreciate any input on the following:

1. Is it common to make a christening gown out of a wedding dress nowadays?

2. Where can one get a christening cake?

3. Is it ok to wear a nice smart dress from e.g. N & Bs rather than a traditional christening gown?

Thanks!

Hi

I don't have all the answers, but we had our girls christened a few months ago and I had 2 christening gowns for them, 1 was made by my partner's aunt and was a long traditional style and the other I bought from Next in the UK and it's a more contemporary shorter style dress. We had little blankets made for them with their names embroidered too which we never used in the end because it was such a hot day. For the cake, we just asked a cake maker to make a design I wanted, with little booties on the top and the girls names and dates of birth on.

Not sure if that helps!
