Anyone heard of the Chinese Birth Chart? I want to have a baby girl but don't want to spend much money. Not sure if the chart can really help. Thanks!

That chart has to be invalid. The female doesn't determine the gender of the child.
Quick bio lesson:
Gender is determined by the X-Y sex chromosomes. Eggs from the female only contains X chromosomes. Sperm cells from the male contains either X or Y chromosomes.
X+X=XX (female)
X+Y=XY (male)
It is the sperm cell (ie, the male) that determines the gender of the conceived child.
Best to just let nature run its course...

The 'boy' sperm swims faster, but does not live in the uterus for long. 'Girl' sperm moves slower, but stays alive longer. So if your egg is ready to be fertilized when sperms are introduced, the boy sperms are more likely to get to it first. If the egg comes late to the party, only the girl sperms are left... something like that... That's the advice a friend of mine (in New York) got from a specialist when she realized she doesn't want to shell out USD 10K to artificially impregnate herself to get a boy. I have heard of women getting it done in Asia before, wouldn't be surprised if it's popular here too. I'd imagine it would be legal as it is like artificial insemination, except that they sort the sperms accordingly before inseminating?
I've heard of the differences in the "boy" sperm cell and "girl" sperm cell. The main idea is:
- If you want a boy, you should do it closest to ovulation and have the man enter from behind (to minimize distance and time it takes for sperm cells to get to egg).
- If you want a girl, you should do it several days before ovulation in missionary position (to maximize distance and time it takes for sperm cells to get to egg).
Unfortunately, I struggle to find any legitimate research done to back this method. It doesn't hurt to try, but don't expect miracles.
If the method turns out to be completely bogus, you'll still have a 50% success rate!

as a side note, what you are trying to pick is the sex of the child, not it's gender. only the child can determine what it considers its gender. Sex "refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women."
