Am not sure if this has been mentioned along the thread (sorry...just being lazy to find out). Anyway, I was told that to read the chart accurately use MOTHER CHINESE age. My understanding of CHINESE age is that baby is 1 year old once he/she arrives in this world!

It worked for me....I did try to use the chart for my second child, despites wasn't mind to have either gender but it will be nice to have a pair. But hey...it's workout!

Doesn't work for me. For both kids it predicted a boy and I had 2 girls!

Sorry for the dumb question, but the month that the baby is conceives - does it mean the month that the baby is borned?

Nope, didn't work for me. Referenced it using both my Western age and my Chinese age and both predicted a girl. But I just got back from my U/S scan and my doctor says it's most likely a boy. (But U/S is not an exact science either so I'm not rushing out to buy gender-specific stuff yet!)

I suppose the original chart is based on Chinese age and Chinese month. The Chinese age is easy to know as it is usually one year more than the Western one. But the Chinese month is not that straightforward. Eg, The Chinese New Year (Chinese Jan) can occur in Western Jan or Feb. Sometimes there are 2 Chinese Aug in the same year! If the posted chart is using Chinese age and month, it will be difficult to get the correct age and month. If the chart is using Western age and month, I just wonder how the original chart be converted to that correctly.

There is on the other hand something interesting. We met an old Chinese medical practitioner (who we didn't know) in a supermarket some years ago. He predicted with 100% certainty my wife had a boy by her belly shape and in fact she had a boy. Yes, this kind of prediction is not new. The interesting thing was that he could tell my wife's right index finger was pulsing. After he left, my wife told me she could really feel the pulsing occassionally at her index finger. Did you also feel the pulsing when you had a boy?

The chart works!! I held an experiemnet and 10/11 are accurate.

But mind you, the chart you got has something wrong. May be it is copied from foreigners and they do not familar with ancient Chinese year. To get accurate prediction, you should use Lunar YEAR and MONTH. In addition, the age should be counted from your first day of conception. Also, the age should be your Chinese age. In ancient Chinese, when a bay is born, they are already 1 year old because ancient Chinese regard baby is 0 years old when they are still in mother's body.

It worked on my first son both by real age/gregorian calender month and by chinese age/lunar calender month. However, sadly, it may not work for my second one. I always have strong instinct that I am carrying a boy now and from the chinese birthing chart I am supposed to have another boy. All the pregnancy signs that I have are 95% the same as when I was carrying my 1st boy. Nevertheless, the OB told us that "it is likely to be a girl" from my 14 months ultrasound, although she said she will confirm again next time. My first boy is so wonderful that make me so much want to have 2 boys and feel disappointed when the OB told us that the baby was "most likely" to be a girl.
Does anyone have experience to have same pregnancy symptoms but turn out to be different gender?
How accurate is 14 months ultrasound for determining the baby gender?
Is it absolute to have a girl if you conceive the baby not right on or close to ovulation?
Hope anyone can help me.

Hello everyone, I just saw a thread about choosing your baby gender. My friend emailed me this link about a year ago. I don't know whether it's accurate or not but I think it's worth a try. Maybe, this could help those
mom's who wanted a baby boy or baby girl.

My husband and I are planning to have a baby boy by next year and we're going to try the chart, I hope it works! Bcuz if not, it's going to be a bummer! :burnout: I really wanted to have a baby boy! :missingto

By the way, have anyone tried any method to have a baby boy? If yes, tell us your story. thanks!

Do you know a method that has a scientific backing behind it for conceiving a male or female child?

Here it is:

If you chart your cycle and know when you ovulate this is your best bet at having a sway over whether you get a boy or girl. I have friends who did this to conceive girls for both children. Of course, this means that you have to go through the work of charting your cycle.

It's pretty fascinating. For more info. on charting:

The method is called The Shettles Method:

I did the chart too it said i was going to have a girl but i just had my scan last week and it was a boy,
I read that if you want to try for a boy you should have sex on the day of your ovulation because male sperm swim faster than female and also die faster than the female sperms, so if you want a girl then try and have sex a day before your ovulation day because the male sperm would die off first then the female sperm will be able to take its time to swim up to your egg, or you can give it a helpping hand the next day after sex and have your legs waving in the air.

YTV...that is exactly what I posted above. :0) That is the closest you can get to having control over whether you conceive a boy or girl...I really don't think that the Chinese chart has much bearing. I do think, though, that the gene pool in HK favors conceiving males. :0) I think I remember reading an article about the disproportionate amount of males conceived in Hong Kong whereas worldwide more females are conceived than males.

Here is a short video from the American TV show which informatively and concisely describes how the different life length that male and female sperm have and how that fits with conception.

Interesting.
