changing formulas

Our baby is taking the 0-6 month cow and gate formula. I heard that you shouldn't change formulas but should we be moving on to the 6 - 12 month cow and gate after 6 months or not. What is the difference between them, any one know?

The 6 - 12mth formulas are fortified with iron and other minerals not found in the 0 - 6mth.
Babies natural iron stores run out by 6 mths so they need an additional source. But as long as they are taking solids which include plenty of iron like fortified rice cereal it's OK to continue with the 0 - 6mth formula.

Can't find Cow&Gate 1 formula

Do you know if Cow&Gate 1 is in stock anywhere in Hong Kong????

I haven't been able to find it anywhere for past week. If I can't find it by tomorrow, we will have to switch to another formula.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

I asked my pedaetrician and the nurses at the government baby wellness clinics the same question - the latest guidance is that it is not necessary to change to the older baby formulas - would like to check if anyone has heard the same advice or not?

My daugher's doctor said it was perfectly fine to keep her on the no.1 formula until she is 24 months old (as long as she has a varied diet). No need to change to 6+ month formula.

Also, I've heard that Cow&Gate temporarily stopped exporting overseas as there was a problem with a illness the cows were suffering from. This may have changed by now but that's what I was told about 6 months ago. I normally got the C&G from Bumps to Babes.
