Car seat for Hong Kong taxi!

Hi everyone, what do you do when you travel with your baby in a taxi? Both hubby and I don't drive so we plan to take taxi if we need to take our baby out but holding the baby in our arm is extremely unsafe so we are thinking of getting a car seat when we have to take taxi.

Does anyone know if there is anything to keep in mind or be aware of when selecting baby car seat for Hong Kong taxi? Or are there resistance to do so in Hong Kong given the rules for car seat are so loose? We are thinking of ordering a car seat from the US.

Thank you!

One of my girlfriends had her foot run over by a cab driver trying to get her bubba in his MaxCosi out of a taxi! So, obviously, I've heard that some drivers can be quite impatient with the whole strapping in process (but you can put this capsule on a stroller base). It doesn't answer your question in the first few weeks and after that it's still not ideal with the lack of head support, but the same girlfriend ended up putting her bub in her ergo baby, strapped onto her chest with the head hood on until she finally cracked and got a car. I'm starting to consider these things too, so much to think about!!

I had a car seat for a newborn and it was completely useless in the taxi, because seat belts are too short. We ended up just holding the car seat between the legs.

I see.. Seems like taxi is not friendly for babies! Maybe I shall consider hiring private cars when I have to take the baby out!!
