Hi

Do we need a car seat for Taxis in Europe? Child 2.5 year old
Cities in Europe visiting: Rome, Copenhagen, London

Thanks /Neha

Neha,

In London if you are planning on hiring a private taxi you will need to use a car seat as it is illegal for a child to be in a car without car or booster seat.

If, however you are just planning on getting a black cab from the street and you have a child who fits in a stroller it will not be necessary as the stroller fits in the back if the car with child still in it as they are all wheelchair friendly so there will be no need for a car seat at all. The stroller will fit on most forms of public transport like the underground and buses also.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Hope this helps,
Amy

Thanks Amy. we do plan to take our stroller but our son doesn't sit in it . We carry him most times. Can we keep him in our lap?

Some taxi drivers may allow you to and the last time I was there most of the newer black cabs actually had built in car seats which were in the middle, you just pulled it down and it folded out into a child seat. It was very convenient and you may not have any trouble in those cabs with your son sitting on your lap but the private hire cars may not allow you to as it is not legal.
