C-section scar

I wonder what anyone did to flatten/ lighten their c-section scar? I hear Cica care and the Hansaplast plasters are good, I wonder if anyone has any experience to share?

i never worried about it. i look at it as a "battle scar" and i'm proud of all i went through to get it.

then again, i don't think i could wear a bikini in public even if you paid me!

(but that has nothing to do with the scar! LOL!)

I used Cica Care and my c-section scar is just a pale red line (not raised). I used them for about two weeks to a month (? - can't remember exactly now) after giving birth.

I used Cica care silicone strips for 2mths after my first csection starting from 2mths after the surgery because i developed a hypertrophic scar. It worked really well!

For my 2nd csection I used it as soon as the stiched came out for 3 weeks. My scar healed very nicely, it's flat and has faded to a light brown colour.

my Ob gave me Mepiform strips which are like plasters that i leave on for a week at a time for 4 months. They are supposed to prevent keloid scars (raised scars).

To lighten scars from other surgerys i have used vitamin E oil. I've bought it in a bottle (in London) and i have also used the gel capsules which i have split open to release the oil (you should be able to get these at health food stores or maybe Mannings)

I used these plasters too for a month or so. Then I wore the plaster at night and used bio oil during the day. You can hardly even see the scar now. Totally flat and all the remains is a very pale line...and I'm very fair.

Where to buy that cica strips, never thought about it. I had thick keloid scars for my first. OB says he will do something for the 2nd so it will be flatten.

But like Cara, not a big deal for me as i won't dare wear bikini in public :haha:

My scar is 5mths now, hope its not too late!
I don't really mind but will like to flatten it at least, it is really raised and red still.
As for buying, you can buy it in Mannings and also the chinese pharmacy - apparently it should be cheaper there
cheers

I had a c section 3 weeks ago, and when the stitches came out after 7 days, my obs gave me a couple of cica care strips. I have also been wearing a binder around my tummy. obs said this helps to stop the scar from stretching, which is what causes keloids. I have to wear the binder for another week. Up till now, the scar is just a thin red line. I hope it stays that way! or even fades more!
