bump on back of head

My child has a small bump on the back of his head just below the skin's surface near the occiputal region. It's been there since he was born. I've seen 2 dr.s that gave me conflicting diagnosis. One says it's a cyst and the other says it's a lymph node. What could it be and should I be worried? Has anyone had experience in seeing a dr. about this?

A few weeks ago I also found a lump ( size of small pea ) on my daughter's throat. I took her to the doctors and they said it was either a nymph node or a dermoid cyst.

If it is an enlarged nymph node ( maybe fighting some kind of infection ) they say the lump should go down in a couple of months. If it doesn't and it continues to grow in size then it is probably a dermoid cyst and may need to be operated on to be removed. So for the time being all we can do is to wait & observe but it is so worrying...

You say your baby's lump has been there since birth...how old is he now?

Thanks for sharing your info. Upon researching on the net it seems to be more of a dermoid cyst..(however, i'm no expert) Would you mind sharing who the dr. is that you saw? I wouldn't mind going for a 3rd opinion. Thank you. Will let you know what happens.

Hi Mambo,

It was just a local chinese doctor we saw whom is located in Tseung Kwan O. If you cannot speak cantonese I am not sure how good his english is...

But in the case that my BBs lump does not get smaller, he gave me a referral letter to see a Specialist ( in the letter it says Specialist in Surgery?) so maybe you can give them a try especially if your BB's had his lump for a long time? However I have not been to him yet so have no idea if he is good or not, but here are his details below:
