Hi
I am consdering purchasing the Bugaboo bee plus pram as I would ideally like something the baby can be in from birth. We wont be purchasing the maxi cosi car seat as we have a car seat from our first daughter which although will not be used with the pram, is enough to use in the car.

I have family and friends in London that can get me the bugaboo bee at a reduced price. I have looked at them here in HK at B2B. Has anyone found them anywhere else here cheaper than $6,300HKD? I hear Mothercare keep them also?

For those who have the Bugaboo bee +, how do you find it? Is it worth the dollars? I had a Maclaren Quest previously which was great, light and easy to fold, but I remember that it really wasnt suitable for at least about 5 months with our daughter as t is not supportive around the neck and back (although they say 3 months?).

Thanks and appreciate any tips.

I am also considering the bugaboo bee, I can't find it any cheaper than HK$6300 which seems very expensive.. I have found it online (UK) for less than ?400... Why is everything in Hong Kong so much more expensive?!
Please let me know if you have any luck finding it cheaper.. good luck xx

Hi ,

I;m living in the UK. I thought with the currency rate that I could find a cheaper one in HK coz ie. apple iphone etc is cheaper in HK compared to in UK. Seems like I am wrong.

FYI, The 2009 model is selling ard 369 pound in mothercare london online while the 2010 model is selling at 419 pound. Good luck on your shopping.

I contacted babytrader.eu recently about shipping the bugaboo to HK and was informed that they can no longer ship the product to HK. I believe it's so that they don't overstep into the territory of the HK sole distributor.

15% discount on Bugaboo when paying with AMEX

I called up Mothercare in Prince's Building and they have a special 15% discount on Bugaboo till the end of April 2011. Only catch is you need to settle the purchase by American Express.
Currently they sell the Bugaboo Bee+ for $6399 which works out to only $5439 after the 15% discount.
It's cheaper to purchase a BugaBoo Bee+ in HK than to buying it from Babycare.nl
Babycare.nl tax free price is 444.54 Euro + 88.98 Euro Shipping = 533.52 Euro which at today's ROE is $5848 HKD
Off I go as I need to apply for my AMEX CARD now.
Hope this helps!

If you live in HK side, it might be easier to use a baby carrier for the first few months and then just get the McLaren?

thanks for the discount tip for the bugaboo bee @ mothercare! i called about the amex promotion and it's definitely a great deal at $5439 considering it lists for about $5050 on amazon.com. shipping it from the US would make it more expensive than the amex deal at mothercare.

i saw the bugaboo bee at bumps to babes over the weekend and it's selling for $7,999 or something ridiculous like that.

I have a bugaboo bee plus and have had some serious problems with it. You should be aware that there is a design fault with them - at any speed over and above moderate walking pace the two front wheels shudder, often making things like running for the bus impossible. They are also more prone to catching in escalators - I recently lost a wheel this way and had to pay $440 to have a new one fitted at bumps and babes. Both of these issues can be easily found by googling....that said, if you are happy to be extra vigilant on escalators & not run with the pram you can buy mine! I'm considering swapping to the babyjogger or maclaren xt - mine is from John Lewis in London, purchases 4 months ago.

i must say that we are a maclaren family. have 2: the techno xt from birth and the quest for my older son. they have been great in asia (hk and in singapore) and traveling around. so easy to fold up and check in at gates. no problems on escalators or running . . . we love our strollers!

Winniethepug, may I ask when you bought your Bugaboo bee plus? Do you know if they have fixed the problem since then?

i just went into mothercare to ask about some of the issues which winniethepug brought up. the shaking or shimmying of the wheel issue can be fixed for free if your bee is still under warranty. mothercare offers a 2 year warranty thru bugaboo. i have also looked at the bugaboo bee website and they have found a solution to the shaking problem. apparently this has been an issue for many custeroms, and they are prepared with a solution.

I pulled the following from the website:

"There are several reasons that may cause the swivel wheels of the Bugaboo Bee to shimmy, including driving speed, road surface and the load on the wheel suspension. And although shimmying does not affect the safety of the stroller, we do understand that it might cause an unpleasant driving experience. Therefore, Bugaboo has created a very simple service set which you can order free of charge and place on your Bugaboo Bee swivel wheels to stop them from shimmying. To order, please contact Bugaboo Customer Service."

I also asked mothercare about the possibility of wheels being damaged from riding on the escalators. the warranty does not cover wheel damage from use of escalators and as such they recommend to take the elevator whenever possible.

hope this info helps.

I bought my bee plus from John Lewis department store in London. I actually called them last week and acknowledged the issue and are posting me the fix it kit to stabilize the wheels - that said, I'm still going to sell it and buy a maclaren!

I'm still leaning towards buying the bugaboo bee. winniethepug, are you still interested in selling yours? How much would you sell it for? Possible to give me your contact details to discuss?
