This is what I was told, but happy to be corrected...

Most normal repellants are officially fine to use while pregnant - the chemical DEET is in the most effective ones but is not contraindicated during pregnancy.

Personally I preferred to use natural repellants, and now use them with my baby. You can get a good one called E'Scent from Eugene Baby Club, and Bumps to Babes has natural repellants as well. Usually the active ingredient is citronella.

I used the yellow citronella patches when pregnant; they contain no DEET just citronella. You can buy them in Watsons, Mannings etc. They worked pretty well.

I used the ywllow citronella patches when I was pregnant and for my little one now. They works very well, higly recommend.

I think the brand name is MOSKIGO - they are citronella based yellow patches. Very effective against mosquitos and smells great too. I use them for both myself and my son. Works really well.

at home we vacumn and mop very frequently. additionally we got an electric mosquito repellant that emits the sound of dragonflys (natural enemy of mosquito). it seems to work pretty well and i don't have to worry about my family breathing in chemicals. dilegence on the super clean really makes a difference.
